PRESIDENT URGES FOR DISSEMINATION OF ISLAM’S TRUE PERSPECTIVE

President of Pakistan and Chancellor, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday said extremist mindset and terrorism had left painful imprints on humanity. He called upon scholars, teachers and students to play role in highlighting the true perspective of Islam

Addressing at International Islamic University’s women campus here, the President said Islam ensures welfare of humanity and those misinterpreting its glorious teachings and fanning hatred, were a disgrace to humanity.

The President stressed that educational institutions should play due role in nurturing youth in light of Islamic teachings. He also emphasized on devising the educational curriculum to effectively cater to the needs of changing world and added that government was working on introducing a new curriculum.

The Chancellor hailed IIUI and said that the university was providing quality education integrated with teachings of Islam to its students. He furthered that it was appreciable that IIUI was providing a suitable learning milieu to 15 thousand female students. President Mamnoon also expressed satisfaction that International Islamic University was the first of its kind in Islamic world which had the objective of preparing intellectuals who could not only safeguard the intellectual basis of Islam, but lead the Islamic world.

The President mentioned that media was unnecessarily promoting the practice of ostentatious display of wealth and luxury in society.

He urged upon the Muslim scholars to guide the media representatives in promoting correct perspective. He said the role of teachers and students was significant in highlighting the true perspective of Islam. He stressed upon the Muslim scholars to foster positive impression about Islam as a religion of peace.

The President said Muslim Ummah and Pakistan was facing difficult times at present and the negative projection of events by media was creating problems.

He asked the female students to achieve as much higher education, however urged upon them to never compromise on their self-respect and their identity as a Pakistani woman.

He especially said to the foreign female students that they were lucky for having an opportunity to study at a remarkable educational institution and they would be known as IIUI and Pakistan’s ambassadors once they complete degrees and turn to native countries.

Earlier, in his welcome address, IIUI Rector. Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai hailed interest and cooperation of President Pakistan for IIUI and said that due to special directives of the Chancellor the university has earned a 2.5 billion grant. “University is all set to commence utilization of the grant at its female campus and prime focus would be on expansion of the female campus and up gradation of labs” Said Dr. Masoom Yasinzai. He furthered that IIUI was providing an ideal milieu of education to 15 thousand female students and IIUI leadership is committed to provide maximum resources to the female campus.

Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said in his speech that cooperation from Pakistan Government to IIUI was commendable and university was heading towards the right direction as per aspirations. He told that IIUI is providing education of subjects which is integrated with teachings of Islam. The IIUI President added that university focuses on dissemination of Islam’s message of peace and urges its students to build their personalities in the light of Islamic teachings/
