As part of the International Islamic University Islamabad’s (IIUI) ongoing Spring 2025 Tree Plantation Campaign, President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, planted a tree at the courtyard of the Administration Block, reaffirming the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
President Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed was joined by key university leadership, including Vice President (Administration & Finance), Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman; Vice President (Research & Enterprise), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed; Director Administration, Dr. Inam Ul Haq; Director HRM&D, Mr. Atiq Ur Rehman Chughtai; In-Charge Finance, Mr. Noor Hussain; In-Charge P&PR, Dr. Asma Mansoor; Mr. Muhammad Ramzan Khan, Legal Advisor; Dr. Sarah Amir; Dr. Sidra from Environmental Science Department and other senior officials, horticulture staff, and male and female employees.
During the plantation ceremony, President IIUI lauded the efforts of the Directorate of Administration and Horticulture Section for the well-organized arrangements and acknowledged their continuous dedication to the beautification and maintenance of the campus. He also commended the hardworking gardeners, especially those who have been contributing tirelessly in the ongoing season, for their vigilance and devotion. “Our campus is not just a place of education, it reflects our values. A beautiful, green environment nourishes both minds and hearts,” said the President.
Highlighting the significance of environmental responsibility, the President emphasized that tree plantation is not only a prophetic tradition but also an act of service to humanity and future generations. “Beautifying our university is a shared responsibility. Let us all play our part in transforming IIUI into a model of sustainability and eco-consciousness,” he added.
In addition to the male campus activities, female staff members also participated in the campaign by planting saplings in the courtyard of the Administration Block. This inclusive approach reflects the university’s broader commitment to engage the entire IIUI community in climate action and sustainability efforts.
Under the slogan “Save the Environment by Planting a Tree”, campaign aims to embed environmental consciousness within the university culture and support global climate action goals, specifically SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
The IIUI tree plantation drive stands as a testament to the university’s sustained efforts to cultivate environmental awareness, promote a green lifestyle, and contribute positively to Pakistan’s ecological future.
