President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmad, addressing a large Friday congregation at Faisal Mosque, spoke on the significance of the homeland in light of the Qur’an and Sunnah, in the context of Pakistan’s Independence Day, 14th August.
He said that love for one’s homeland is a natural and Islamic value, exemplified in the lives of the Holy Prophet ﷺ and his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). However, he stressed that this love must be linked to the principles of faith and moral values. He clarified that true patriotism lies in maintaining peace, protecting the country from all forms of discord, practicing honesty, working for public welfare, and foiling all designs of the enemy.
At the conclusion of his address, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmad paid tribute to the services of Pakistan’s armed forces. In particular, he congratulated the Pakistan Army and the entire Pakistani nation on their victorious role in the battle for truth, and prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs.
He also offered special prayers for the protection, success, and unity of the Two Holy Mosques, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
