President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, who also serves as the Executive Director of the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD), chaired the consultative meeting with the heads of the university’s academic and intellectual arms.
The session brought together the Directors General and Executive Director of Dawah Academy, Shariah Academy, Islamic Research Institute (IRI), and IRD to review institutional performance and deliberate on strategic reforms.
Those in attendance included Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ilyas (Director General, Dawah Academy), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram (Director General, Shariah Academy), Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq (Director General, IRI), Mr. Nasir Fareed (Additional Director, IRD), Mr. Muhammad Ramzan (Legal Advisor, IIUI), and Mr. Saqib Rashid (Deputy Director, Human Resource Management).
The meeting’s agenda focused on presenting a five-year progress report and devising a forward-looking two-year roadmap for the institutes. Several pressing challenges requiring immediate attention were identified and discussed at length. Timelines were defined to ensure timely action, while paperwork and implementation plans were finalized to align with the university’s strategic priorities.
The discussion emphasised that these institutes—serving as the intellectual and ideological face of IIUI—have consistently contributed to national and global discourse through research, academic training, and policy engagement grounded in Islamic scholarship. The need was emphasized to ensure that their intellectual output remains aligned with the evolving epistemic needs of the contemporary world.
President Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed reiterated the importance of evolving strategic thinking, institutional synergy, and periodic reviews. He emphasized that these bodies must remain dynamic in their approach and impactful in advancing IIUI’s mission and global reputation.
The meeting concluded with the resolve to strengthen institutional performance through visionary planning and sustained collaboration.
