H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), addressed the university’s financial situation and the way forward in a meeting attended by Directors, Additional Directors, and Deputy Directors. It was also attended by the Vice President Administration, Finance/ Academics, Dr. Abdul Raheman.
The IIUI President announced that the DPC will be held after the Hajj and all cases shall be dealt on merit. He said those who deserve will get the reward on merit while this process shall be done without any interference from any other source as the administration is already in final stage on this aspect.
The discussion centered on long-term solutions for financial stability and implementing austerity measures to ensure the university’s continued progress.
Dr. Alotaibi emphasized the importance of prudent financial planning, noting the significant achievements over the past four years. He highlighted the need to transition to solar energy solutions, citing it as a critical step for reducing operational costs and enhancing sustainability.
Dr. Alotaibi stressed the necessity of cutting expenses while simultaneously enhancing revenue streams. “Immediate solutions are required to make IIUI financially stable. This includes looking for long-term investment opportunities, implementing budget cuts, and driving austerity measures. Discussing the funding, he said that approach should be implementing the funded amount for investment instead of operations.
He assured the officers that the administration has a clear pathway to follow, free from any undue influence. “There are no secret files in my office,” he emphasized, advocating transparency and collaborative decision-making.
The President also touched on the potential of distance learning terming it a sector where the university could enroll up to 500,000 students.
Despite financial constraints, Dr. Alotaibi expressed his unwavering dedication to the university community. “I feel I am one of you; our pains and gains are the same,” he said, adding that serving the institution is his primary goal. He also discussed concerns about pending arrears and salary management.
In response, the officers acknowledged Dr. Alotaibi’s cooperative and dynamic leadership. They expressed the need for more frequent meetings, emphasizing the positive impact of his engagement on the university’s financial stability.
Dr. Alotaibi concluded by reaffirming his commitment to IIUI’s prosperity and development. “A prosperous IIUI will witness more development,” he declared, pledging to continue efforts towards achieving financial stability and growth.
