Orientation Session on Course Development for Open and Distance Learning Held at IIUI

The Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (DODL) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized an orientation session on course development in line with the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) policy.

The session commenced with welcome address from Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Director DODL. The resource person, Dr. Kashif Suhail Malik, Master Trainer from the Institute of Professional Development (IPD), conducted the session. Faculty members from the Department of Teacher Education (DoTE) and the Department of Educational Leadership and Management (DoELM) were the key participants, with Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Chairperson DoELM, also in attendance.

Dr. Kashif Suhail Malik provided an overview of the session and invited faculty members to share their experiences with distance education programs. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Assistant Professor and Incharge Male/Female Programs at DoTE, highlighted the challenges encountered in distance education. This was followed by Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, Assistant Professor DoTE, who elaborated on the course development process for ODL.

Dr. Suhail emphasized that while challenges exist, effective organization of course activities and lecture recordings are crucial for ODL success. He stressed the importance of clear abbreviations, actionable learning objectives, and standardized course structures.
He also recommended using Google Forms for assessments and incorporating authentic educational YouTube links from recognized institutions.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Kayani to Dr. Malik and all participants.
