An orientation session was organized at the Central Library of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) for newly enrolled female students of the Faculty of Sciences for the Spring Semester 2026.
The session aimed to familiarize students with the library’s academic resources, research facilities, and essential services to support their studies and scholarly pursuits.
Dr. Muhammad Zulqarnain Akhtar, Chief Librarian, IIUI, welcomed the participants and highlighted the significance of the Central Library as a hub of academic excellence and research support. He provided an overview of the library’s extensive collection and emphasized its role in facilitating quality education and research activities.
Ms. Sidra Shan, Librarian, delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing the library’s print and electronic resources. She introduced students to key services including the Book Bank facility, electronic theses and dissertations repository, the library website, and the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). She also briefed participants on access to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Digital Library databases, along with important library rules and regulations.
The students showed keen interest throughout the session and actively participated in the interactive question-and-answer segment held at the conclusion of the presentation.
The orientation concluded with encouragement for students to make full use of the library’s diverse resources to enhance their academic journey.
