The Publications Committee of the Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University Islamabad, convened a meeting to review the institute’s academic publishing performance during 2025 and to outline its future publication strategy. The meeting was held at the Zafar Ishaq Ansar Board Room, Old Campus, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, Director General, IRI.
The meeting was attended by senior academic and administrative members, including Ateeq Ur Rehman Chughtai, Director; Prof. Dr. Fazalullah, Dean, Faculty of Arabic, IIUI; Prof. Dr. Mohyuddin Hashmi, Dean, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Allama Iqbal Open University; Dr. Mohammad Riaz Mehmood, Associate Professor, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, AIOU; Dr. Hafiz Aftab Ahmad, Head, Department of Comparative Study of World Religions, IRI; Dr. Muhammad Sajid Mirza, Principal Librarian, Dr. Muhammad Hamidullah Library, IRI; Dr. Rustam Khan, Deputy Director (Administration & Finance/Press), IRI; and Mr. Sajjad Ahmad, Assistant Director HR, IRI.
The committee discussed a range of agenda items, including confirmation and implementation of previous decisions, revision of journal exchange and mailing lists, and detailed reports on books and journals published during the year. The members also reviewed new manuscripts submitted for publication, assessed the status of out-of-stock titles, considered policies regarding complimentary distribution of books, and examined proposed Memoranda of Understanding with the Quran Covenant Research Center and the Character Education Foundation.
The committee appreciated the Publications Section of IRI for its sustained efforts and effective management of scholarly outputs. Members acknowledged the section’s contribution to strengthening academic publishing standards, widening scholarly engagement, and enhancing the national and international reach of IRI’s research publications.
The meeting concluded with practical recommendations aimed at improving editorial quality, publication impact, and strategic planning to further advance IRI’s role in academic and research dissemination.
