4th Intl. Business research conference ends at IIUI
Two day “4th International Business Research Conference (IABRC)” organized by the Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI ended. Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIUI was the chief guest in the concluding session of the conference. Faculty members, administrative officers, staff members and a large number of students attended the opening session.

Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik said that we have the ideal business ethics portrayed by our holy prophet (P.B.U.H) and Hazrat Khadija (R.A) which should be followed for the success of every business enterprise. He said that the purpose of this conference was to provide a platform for the research students to present their research work. He further said that IIUI will continue to organize such type of conferences in future.

Dr. Bashir Muhammad Khan of the Faculty of Management Sciences of the university said that a good research paper should improve the knowledge and understanding regarding a particular topic of the reader.

The concluding session was also addressed by conference chair Dr. Zahir Abbas of the faculty of Management Sciences, IIUI. A number of scholars of Management Sciences from Pakistan and abroad presented their papers on the second day of the conference. They include: –

4th Intl. Business research conference starts at IIUI”
Two day “4th International Business Research Conference (IABRC)” Started at the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). The conference has been organized by the Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) of the university. Mr. Salman Siddiqui, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Islamabad was the chief guest in the opening session of the conference while it was chaired by Dr. Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman, Acting President of the university. Faculty members, administrative officers, staff members and a large number of students attended the opening session.

Mr. Salman Siddiqui in his speech highlighted the role of Islamic ethics in the conduct of the Muslim businessmen and women. He said that Islam being the complete code of life, has given guideline not only for spiritual lives of the human beings but it has formulated the worldly lives as well. Mr. Siddiqui said that the economic activities play a very pivotal role in human lives and Islam did not ignore this side. Basic theme of Islamic teachings is honesty and end to all sorts of exploitations. The Federal Board of Revenue Chairman stressed upon the need of adopting Islamic principles of business and economic activities. Mr. Siddiqui appreciated the role of the International Islamic University, Islamabad for conducting studies of Management Sciences to cope with the requirements of the modern day world in the light of Islamic teachings. He also called upon researchers and faculty members to polish skills of youth to shoulder future responsibilities.

Dr. Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman in his presidential address focused on the basic concept of Islamic teachings in regularizing business activities in a Muslim society. Dr. Sajid was of the view that Islamic teachings must be followed in letter and spirit to present the Muslim societies for other nations of the world as a role model.

The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is organizing a seminar on “Contemporary Pakistani Novels in English: History, Nation, Family” on 30th November 2011 at 11:00 am at Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus of the university.

IIU HOLDS SEMINAR ON “IQBAL DAY”
Department of Urdu of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar to commemorate the 134th birth anniversary of the great poet and philosopher, Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIU was the chief guest on the occasion while Professor Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman Vice President IIU presided over the seminar. Director Female Campus, Professor Qaiserah M. Alvi and a number of scholars addressed the seminar.

Dr. Aziz Ibn ul Hasan, Assistant Professor Department of Urdu of IIUI presented paper on “Iqbal: Fikar o Fan ka Imtizaj” and Dr Nawazish Ali presented study on “Allama Iqbal & Dr. Ali Shariati”.

Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said that the crisis of today’s world is that people have become mechanical as human values have lost their importance and have been forgotten. He said that Allama Iqbal has touched almost all aspects of religion, society and human existence. He added that Iqbal’s thought, message and works are relevant for all times. He further added that we should follow the concept of self presented by Iqbal to get success in every walk of life. Professor Malik suggested responding to the thinking of Iqbal without sectarian preferences. He said that Iqbal gave message of love, brotherhood and harmony, and this should be popularized as much to uplift the youth of the nation. Professor Malik urges the need to conduct a scholarly study of the thoughts of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Professor Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said that Allama Iqbal considered the Holy Quran as the Hub of Knowledge and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the Ideal Personality. He added that the students of sub-continent in general and Pakistan in particular should equip themselves of the great thinking of Allama Iqbal to achieve better and rational knowledge both in academia and practical life. He further added that Iqbal avoid imagination and inspiration in his poetry and stressed always on hope as this is the weapon with the Muslims to compete with the rest of the world. Dr. Sajid ur Rehman said that Iqbal advised the nation not to frustrate from the bestow of Almighty Allah.

Professor Qaiserah M Alvi presented a poem of Iqbal which he wrote on Qartaba Mosque and Dr. Farzana Gilani also presented the poem of Allam Iqbal during the seminar.

While exchanging views about the progress of the university Ashfaq Hashmi appreciated the IIUI for providing quality education not only in Pakistan but to the students of all the world especially students of the Muslim Countries.

Farewell Lunch for Dr. Ansari
A farewell lunch was arranged by Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in honour of Former Vice President of the university for Higher Studies & Research and & Director General Islamic Research Institute (IRI), IIU, Dr. Zafar Ishaq Ansari here on Monday. Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIUI, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, President IIUI and a large number of faculty members and administrative officers were present on the occasion.

Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad and Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said that Dr. Zafar Ishaq Ansari is one the founders of the IIUI. He served IIUI for the last 25 years and his services shall be remembered for ever. He spend a major portion of his life to serve IIUI. They said that although he is administratively retired but ideologically he will always be associated with the university.

An international conference on “Globalization and its impact on Indigenous Cultures” organized by the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) and Critical Thinking Forum of the Department of English Language and Literature of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with International Institute of Islamic Thought, (IIIT), USA ended.

Dr. Asad Zaman, Director General, International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIIE), IIUI chaired the second day of the conference. Professor Hasan Abbas Hasan, Vice Chancellor, Omdurman Islamic University, Sudan and Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayyed also attended the conference. IIUI faculty members, administrative officers, staff members and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.

Dr. M Nazrul Islam, Dean Faculty of social sciences, IIUI spoke on “Globalization-New Threats and Old Insecurities: Bangladesh Perspectives”, Dr. Tugrul Keskin spoke on “The Religious and World Dimension of the Gulen Movement” and Dr. Safeer Awan, Student Advisor, IIUI spoke on “Radical Islamization and Globalization: Impact on Cultural Multiplicity in Pakistan”.

Dr. Tugrul Keskin said that after the single party era which ended in 1946 during the initial stages of cold war, Turkish foreign and domestic policies began to shift towards a new relationship with US and NATO with the help of the Marshal Plan. He added that in Turkey there was high inflation after the election of 1973. Dr. Tugrul said that globalization started in Turkey after the process of privatization under IMF & World Bank programs in 1984 to 1988. He further said that the Islamic movement parties in Turkey also followed privatization & free market and accepts globalization. The modern Turkish society consists of two major thinking forums- the Islamic movements and the secular movements said Dr. Tugrul. He claimed that globalization gives excellent strength to the education which improved standard of living in turkey to bring freedom of speech and human rights

Dr. Asad Zaman concluded the conference and said that Islam is the only hope to change the prevailing circumstances of the world as capitalism and feudalism are failed. He added that there is no need to afraid of the pump and glory of the west as we have a complete code of life in the shape of Islam. Dr. Asad Zaman further said that all the nations of the world are trying to increase their GNP and despite the ample increase in it, they are failed to improve the standard of life of the masses.

Dr. Nazarul Islam said that the impact of globalization on Bangladesh may not be observed as of developed nations but it is better as compared to the other neighbour countries. He added that the negative impact of globalization in Bangladesh may be linked to the international policy formation. He further added that 25,000 non-formal schools are operated in Bangladesh by the NGOs which is a huge symbol of globalization.

Dr. Safeer Awan said that Islam has been unique ideology through out the history. He added that globalization will only be successful if we consider the world population as one single brotherhood and ready to live in the spirit of cooperation.

Later Prof. Hassan Abbas Hassan, Vice Chancellor of the Omdurman Islamic University, Sudan also attended the concluding session of the conference, Mushahid Hussain Sayyed, Senator was also present on the occasion.

IIUI conference on “Globalization and its impacts on Indigenous Cultures” starts
An international conference on “Globalization and its impact on Indigenous Cultures” organized by the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) and Critical Thinking Forum of the Department of English Language and Literature of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with International Institute of Islamic Thought, (IIIT), USA started here on Thursday.

Ms. Noor Amna Malik, Director General (Learning Innovation) Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan was the guest speaker. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui and Dr. Ejaz Akram of the Lahore School of Economics, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, President IIUI and Executive Director, IRD, Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President, IIUI, Dr. Talib Hussain Sial, Dr. Noor Fatima and Dr. Munazza Yaqoob of the IIUI also spoke on various aspects of the globalization and its impacts” on the first day of the conference.

Ms. Noor Amna Malik said that there is no other strong symbol of globalization as our Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). she said that the frequent symbols of globalization are face book, you tube and other social websites because of huge access to these websites. She said that it is the great symbol of globalization that one can interact with the whole world within minutes through these tools. Ms. Noor Amna added that the small example of technology to contribute to the globalization is Mobile, which connects you to help, contact or interact with everyone and everywhere in the world. Pakistan should cope with the new technology to remain with the globe like India to prove that we are part of the world globalization. She further said that Chinese are trying to spend every moment of their lives properly and that’s the reason they are the economic super power of the world.

Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said that death of language means death of peculiar viewpoint, identity, previous life experiments and social history. Globalization has also affected world languages as 2471 languages out of 7000 languages of the world are endangered due to globalization. He added that 23 languages out of 66 languages are in danger due to this linguistic imperialism existing in this part of the world.

Dr. Ejaz Akram said that globalization is nothing but movement of goods and ideas across the world. He said that the world has become a better place today then of the last 25 years and this is because of globalization. India has followed the Nehru Rules of globalization and subsequently benefited from this.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad said that the two greatest theorists of globalization form intellectuals and sociological perspective are Adam Smith and Carl Marx. He added that the local and international media have become globalized. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad added that globalization divided the world into two classes, the one who accepts it and the other who rejects it. He said that the cultural and economic systems are always discouraged by the political dominants.

Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said that the culture and civilization of any nation based on their basic beliefs are indispensable for their survival in the world. Sajid ur Rehman added that the nations who forget their beliefs finally die and no one mourns upon their demise.

Dr. Talib Sial speak on the topic from Dr. Allama Iqbal’s perspective and said that in real globalization is threat for the markets of developed countries and also for the sovereignty of those states. He further said that Globalization is affecting the economies of the developing counties as well. He further said that the recent globalization is the product of materialism in all respect excluding this spiritualization. The conference shall continue on Friday

Dawah Academy of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar on “current challenges & the visions of Maulana Jalal Uddin Roomi and Allama Iqbal” at faisal Mosque campus of the university. Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIU was the chief guest whereas Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman Vice President IIU presided over the seminar. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad President IIU was also present and Ex-Chief Secretary of Khyber Pukhtoonkhawah and renowned scholar Muhammad Abdullah was guest speaker while Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIUI presided over the seminar. IIUI President Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Vice President Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman and a number of IIUI faculty members, administrative officers, staff members and students were also present on the occasion.

Muhammad Abdullah said that one cannot separate the thinking and philosophy of Maulana Roomi and Allama Iqbal. He added that in order to overcome the current situation, we should follow the teachings of Maulana Roomi and Allama Iqbal. He further added that both the personalities followed the Holy Quran & Sunnah in their writings.

Although both lived in different periods of time, they were one in their conclusions because they derived their teachings from Allah Almighty and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). Muhammad Abdullah stressed upon the need of their teachings in present day situation and for that he called for a revolution from the class room.

Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said that both Maulana Roomi and Allama Iqbal were the symbols of knowledge and enthusiasm. He added that we should get rid of foreign NGOs and their sinister designs by following the teachings of these two light houses of the Muslim Ummah. He further said that both will be remembered for ever due to their wisdom and dedications for the Ummah.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad assured on the occasion that the Islamic University shall fulfill its responsibilities for reviving lost glory of the Ummah by transferring teachings of Maulana Roomi and Iqbal to its students.

IIU UPGRADES ITS LIBRARY SERVICES
The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has improved and upgraded its library services. The central library has been given an attractive look, reduced the congested area, enhanced online services of library publications and established a PHD Lab with the help of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
Dawah Academy to hold Birth Anniversary of Allama Iqbal
Dawah Academy of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is celebrating 134th Birth Anniversary of Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at 10:00 am at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus of the university. Academician from IIUI, educational institutions of Islamabad / Rawalpindi to participate in this programme. A leading scholar Muhammad Abdullah will deliver lecture on “Contemporary Issues and Teachings of Rumi & Iqbal”. Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIUI will be the chief guest while Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President (AF&P), IIUI will preside over the ceremony.

IIU Official attends Seminar on “Japanese Management” IN BD
Mr. Ateeq ur Rehman Chugtai, Deputy Director (Examination) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) attended two Day 3rd Seminar on “Japanese Management” organized by Chitagong AOTS Alumni Society (CAAS), Chittagong, Bangladesh in collaboration with Association for Overseas Technical Scholarships, Tokyo, Japan.

More than 70 participants from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka attended the 2 day seminar. In orientation session Tutsumi Takashi, Ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh was the chief guests.

Ateeq ur Rehman Chughtai was the only participant from Pakistan who delivered a presentation on Management (Managerial Practice) in Pakistan in detail and also answered the queries made by the participants about Pakistan’s managerial system especially in service sector.

In certificate awarding ceremony the Prof. Dr. Shaimal Biswas, Vice Chancellor of University of Engineering & Technology Chittagong was the chief guest and guests of honour respectively. Ateeq ur Rehman Chughtai also visited the University of Dhaka and Dhaka Medical College.

IIUI HOLDS SEMINAR ON “YOUTH: SYMBOL OF HOPE”
A seminar on “Youth: symbol of hope” to measure that every generation evolves through its experiences; challenges of past and way forward for future was organized here at International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) on Thursday. The seminar was organized by the Department of Politics & International Relations (IR), IIU in collaboration with Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRD), IIUI. renowned journalists Dr. Moeed Pirzada, Miss Naseem Zuhra & Fahad Hussain were the guest speakers. Dr. Noor Fatima chairperson Department of Politics & IR and a large number of students attended the seminar.

Speakers said that the whole nation is looking towards the youth and considered that the youth is the only light in this dark arena. They also appreciated the role of media in building the opinions of the masses which are indispensable to bring change.

Dr. Moeed Pirzada said that the new generation should learn from the past learning experiences to better work for future. Dr. Pirzada said that the world is looking on Pakistan as male dominant society, scattered & confused masses, military dominated political system and trouble maker nation. He added that Pakistan is rated with India which comparatively place Pakistan weak and failure. He further added that there is symbol of hope for the youth of this nation as we have strong military Institute, huge population and nuclear power.

Miss Naseem Zohra a renowned TV anchor said that the youth of this nation should not worry by the situation. She said that there is no alternate system to the democracy to run the country. She also appreciated the role of media.

Mr. Fahad Hussain, a TV anchor said that media is the only platform for the youth of this country to ask from those who remained in power in the past. He added that our society mostly comprised of middle class and the media industry is professionally middle class industry. Dr. Noor Fatima presented a university crest to the chief guest on the occasion.

Dr. Muhammad Tahir Mansoori, Professor, Faculty of Shariah & L:aw of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has been appointed as Director General (DG), Shariah Academy, IIUI. He will continue to perform his teaching assignments as Professor in the Faculty of Shariah & Law, IIUI.
IIUI holds Seminar on “ Emerging Women Leadership in the World”
Department of Politics & International Relation (P&IR) and Department of Software Engineering (SE) , Female Campus of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar on “Emerging Women Leadership in the World” for the Female Students. Dr. Tayyibeh Safaie, Dr. Lailah Eftekhari and Dr. Iran Rokanbandi , Irani Parliamentarians were the guest speakers on the occasion. Prof. Qaiserah M. Alvi, Director Female Campus, IIUI, Dr. Noor Fatima, Chairperson Department of P&IR and a large number of faculty members and students were present at the seminar.

All the speakers emphasized on the role of women in perspective with Islamic Awakening. The status of women in Islam is indisputably high and their rights and duties are equal to that of the men. Women have power to create, nurture and transform the societies. They said that one of the most important point in the Islamic Awakening movement in the region, which has attracted the attention of the world is the presence of large masses of muslim women wearing Hijab or Islamic dress. They further added that the unparallel resistance and meaningful presence of muslim women is to be considered as one of the underlying causes of the continuation of the wave of Islamic Awakening in most of the Islamic countries.

They further said that it is worth emphasizing that revival of the status of women and their role in muslim societies is a promising movement which shall bring about progress for Islamic communities. The essential solution for Muslim women today is their purposeful presence in different political and socio-cultural areas. So, Muslim women must keep their Islamic and gender identity while attending the society in order to play an effective role in managing the affairs.

Afterwards, Prof. Qaiserah M. Alvi said that the Muslim women were given a role, duties and rights 1400 years ago that are being practiced today. These are from God and are designed to keep balance in society. what may seem unjust or missing in one place is compensated for or explained in another place. Islam is a complete way of life. She also expressed gratitude to the guests and presented the university souvenirs to them. The seminar ended with question answer session.

IIUI to hold 4th IABRC 2011 Conference
The Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is organizing 4th two day “International Applied Business Research conference (IABRC) 2011” on November 28 & November 29, 2011. This conference is a pivotal activity to stimulate research culture by providing new academic researchers from the university and outside. The meeting of the Management Committee of the conference was held at the University here on Monday with Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Acting President IIUI in the chair.
