PANEL DISCUSSION

  1. CTF and the Human Rights Forum IIUI in collaboration with the US embassy and Students’ Advisor (Female Campus) office organized a panel discussion on the 10th of December, 2013 at the Female campus of IIUI. The program was one in the series of events organized in relation to sixteen days of activism against the gender based violence.  16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign originating from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute. The panel discussion was particularly focused on “Challenges for Women at the Workplace”.

The panel included chief guest Dr. Fouzia Saeed (leading activist for women rights in the civil society of Pakistan), Miss Angela Aggeler (Counselor for Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy Islamabad, Pakistan), Dr. Munazza Yaqoob (HOD English Department IIUI, Student Advisor for female campus and Incharge CTF), Mr. Faisal Mushtaq (CEO Roots School System), and Miss Momina Tariq (representative of Telenor and the corporate sector).

  1. A panel discussion on “Intellectual Property Rights” was arranged by CTF on 20th February, 2014. The panel comprised the following:
  1. Mr. Joe Yang, an Attorney-Advisor in the Commercial Law Development Programme (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of the General Counsel.
  2. Ms. Kalpana Reddy, the First Secretary for Intellectual Property in the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.
  3. Judge Morrison C. England, Jr., a member of the Criminal Rules Advisory Committee for the United States, a member of the Board of Regents for the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA.
  4. Dr. Aziz ur Rehman  (Moderator for the panel discussion).

Dr. Rehman completed his PhD from the Australian National University where his work focused on patent law. In 2001 he completed his LLM from the University of Stockholm Law School, Sweden and earned an LLB (Hons) degree from the International Islamic University, Islamabad-Pakistan in 1998. He has published in leading international journals on various themes related to intellectual property, medical innovation policy and international trade. He is currently teaching in IIUI.

  1. A panel discussion was arranged on March 07, 2014 as a part of Women’s Day Celebrations. The topic of the discussion was “Future of Women’s Rights Movements in Pakistan”. The panel included:
