IIUI’s Reconstituted Inquiry Committee on Workplace Harassment Hosts Its Meeting

The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) convened a meeting of the Inquiry Committee, which has been reconstituted under Section 03 of the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010, and Section 07 of the Policy on Protection against Sexual Harassment in Higher Education Institutions as outlined by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad.

The meeting was held in the Board Room, Administration Block of the university. It aimed to review and discuss matters related to workplace harassment cases and institutional measures to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all employees and students.

The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Director General of Shariah Academy, who also serves as the Chairman of the Inquiry Committee. Other members of the committee include:

Mr. Ateeq Ur Rehman Chughtai, Director (HRM&D), participated in the capacity of Member and Secretary of the Committee.

During the event, Chairman of the previous committee, Prof. Dr. Fazlullah, Dean of the Faculty of Arabic, handed over the records to the newly appointed committee members. Dr. Fazlullah also informed the meeting that, according to their records, no inquiries were pending.

The meeting reaffirmed IIUI’s strong commitment to implementing the HEC’s policy framework and emphasized the university’s zero-tolerance stance on harassment. Committee members discussed procedural protocols, case handling mechanisms, and ways to enhance awareness and reporting channels within the institution.

The university administration reiterated its resolve to provide a safe working and learning environment and to address any reported concerns with fairness, confidentiality, and integrity.
