IIUI TO OFFER 4200 ONLINE COURSES

The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) will be offering 4200 courses to as many as 22000 students.

A meeting to discuss all possible circumstances including continuation of halted on-campus activities amid pandemic and commencement of online academic activities was held here at new campus.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh (via video link) Acting President IIUI, Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik and Vice Presidents including Dr. Muhammad Munir, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily and Dr. Farkhanda Zia. It was also attended by Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments and other relevant officials.

During the meeting, commencement of the academic activities and policy for examination was discussed. It was decided that an “open book” examination approach will be practiced for mid-term and final term examination. It was also decided that university will launch its admission campaign in the last week of June.

The participants also discussed steps to prevent and combat the spread of the coronavirus in IIUI. It was noted on the occasion that as per guidelines of Higher Education Commission (HEC), all the faculties were engaged to be well prepared for commencing the academic activities online from June 1. On the occasion, Dr. N B Jummani, Head of the special committee for online education briefed about the latest development and future landscape.

The IIUI Rector stressed to devise well balanced policy for online classes and urged them to ensure maximum benefits and exquisite implementation of LMS. He also directed that training for LMS must be conducted by all the faculties. He said management and faculty together were working best to save academic loss.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh, on the occasion, hailed all the efforts made by the relevant officials and hoped that IIUI will be among leading ones to devise a well-versed policy of online education. Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik thanked the participants  for attending the meeting and vowed that no stone will be left un-turned to for an exquisite online academic policy.
