IIUI RECTOR CHAIRS MEETING ON CORONAVIRUS CRISIS

Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Rector , International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) chaired a special  meeting with top officials to discuss the  International Islamic University Islamabad’s (IIUI) response to the global pandemic of fatal coronavirus and minimize academic disruption.

The meeting was held at new campus which as attended by a very limited relevant officials keeping in view the bounding of  avoiding large gatherings.

The meeting discussed  all possible circumstances such as continuation of the  closure (if announced as per government’s decision) and minimum academic disruption. The participants also discussed steps to prevent and combat the spread of the coronavirus in IIUI.

IIUI Rector called upon the academic fraternity to revamp and streamline the preparations and infrastructure for Video Learning, LMS an online teachings. He said the university will follow steps and instructions of government and would accordingly comply to the circumstances.

IIUI Rector called for joint efforts, well deliberated strategy and preparations to face any sort of situation. He said protection of students is top priority and alternative solutions are being mulled to face any emergency situation.

In the meeting, measures to seek technical support of HEC in DLE were also discussed. In the wake of prevailing situation, Dr, Masoom Yasinzai directed  that all the activities such as meetings of statuary bodies and conferences will remain  postponed, there will be no presence of students at the campuses and hostels except the foreign students who will stay at hostels.

He also directed that concerned heads of all the departments will ensure minimum presence of staff and it will be their decision that how much of their staff will attend the office. It was also decided that buses will not ply and officials coming to university for duties will be joining on their own arrangements.

On the occasion, it was agreed that avoiding crowd and raising awareness were the ultimate solutions and top priorities. IIUI leadership noted that faculty must be given all possible support for capacity building, internet based teaching and evaluation. They maintained that avoiding panic policy should be observed at university campuses. The meeting ended with a commitment to strengthen the LMS system, capacity building and engagement of Faculty.
