The Department of Psychology at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a “Mental Health Awareness and Prevention Camp” under the supervision of Dr. Nazia Iqbal, with the support of faculty members. The event aimed to raise awareness about mental health issues among students through interactive activities.
Distinguished guests at the camp included Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr. Amna Mehmood, Incharge Female Campus; Dr. Rukhsana, Head of the Student Advisor Office; and Dr. Asma Mansoor from the Protocol Office. They appreciated the department’s initiative to promote mental health education and student well-being.
Students actively contributed by setting up various stations that addressed common mental health challenges. These included the Stress Detox Booth, Overthinker’s Anonymous Station, Relationship Checkpoint, and Procrastination Recovery Lounge, among others. Each booth offered informative content, interactive tools, and coping strategies.
In a unique and engaging gesture, students also invited the participation of the Dean and other distinguished guests in selected activities. Through these interactions, students shared insights on managing stress while upholding empathy, forgiveness, and tolerance—values essential for both personal growth and effective leadership.
As a lasting contribution to campus well-being, the students of the Psychology Department have also created a dedicated mental wellness garden within their faculty premises. Designed as a quiet, green space for relaxation and reflection, the garden offers students a calm environment to decompress and restore mental balance amidst their academic routines.
