IIUI PRESIDENT INAUGURATES GENOMICS RESEARCH LAB, WITNESSES SUMMER CAMP ACTIVITIES AT FC

President, international Islamic University, Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh visited female campus (FC) on Thursday, where he inaugurated Genomics Research Lab and also witnessed the activities of the summer camp.

The opening ceremony of the Higher Education Funded Lab under national research program for universities was held at department of bioinformatics and bio technology. It was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Basic Sciences, Dr. Arshad Zia, and the Head of the Department of Dr. Asma Gul, Director  female campus Dr, Farkhanda Zia, Director Academics Dr. Tahir Khalily, Incharge lab Dr. Shaheen Shehzad and students of the department.

IIUI President hailed the government policies for the support of higher education and research and thanked Chairman HEC for continuous cooperation with IIUI. He hoped that the lab will be a source of specified dedicated research which will help scholars and students to come up with best results.

Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Draiweesh also witnessed activities of the summer camp, where he visited the competitions of national songs, Qirat, naat. IIUI President, along with his spouse also joined a lecture on Islam and environment.

Later, he also planted a sapling after the lecture and inaugurated the tea plantation campaign.  On the occasion, Prof. Dr Farkhanda Zia, Director female campus, Prof Dr Arshad Zia, Dean FBAS, Dr Tahir Khalily Director Academics, Prof. Dr Amna Mehmood, Provost, Dr Nyla Jabeen student advisor and large number of female faculty members and students.  Dr Rukhsana Tariq, Chairperson Department of Environmental Sciences coordinated this activity for summer camp students.
