Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) chaired 15th Meeting of Shariah Academy’s Council on Tuesday at Faisal Masjid Campus.
Chairing the meeting IIUI President said that role of Shariah Academy is pivotal for the university and Muslim Ummah, while utmost cooperation would be assured by the leadership for achievement of the academy’s goals.
Members of the Council included Director General Shariah Academy, Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq , Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology, Dr. Asghar Ali Chishti, Dean Faculty of Arabic , AIOU, Prof. Hammad Lakhvi, Chairman Institute of Islamic Studies University of Punjab, Dr. Mairaj ul Islam Zia, Dean Peshawar University, Dr. Muhammad Yousaf Farooqi, Former DG, Shariah Academy, Barrister Adnan, Advocate Supreme Court, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily, Vice President IIUI and Dr. Habib ur Rehman, Secretary of the Council attended the meeting.
The council members discussed valuable aspects pertaining to future plans of Shariah Academy. Members also deliberated upon various suggestions. IIUI President said on the occasion that Shariah Academy is a premier seat of training which has been enlightening important professionals of the society. He hailed services of the academy provided to the legal fraternity. Dr. Al-Draiweesh also showed satisfaction over recent training courses organized by the academy. Members of the Shariah Council also lauded role of Academy for organizing international training courses and conferences.
It is pertinent to mention that like other constituent units of the IIU, the Shari’ah Academy works under the guidance of a council called “The Council of the Shari’ah Academy”. The Council looks at the working of the Academy and lays down the broad framework for its activities. The Council is headed by the President of the International Islamic University, Islamabad and its members are chosen from amongst the scholars and academicians for their knowledge and varied experience.
