President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh called on Dr Tariq Banuri and felicitated for his appointment as new chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
While congratulating the Chairman HEC, Dr. Al-Draiweesh briefed about the IIUI and its services especially in the field of linkages, solutions to the challenges and dialogue.
“I am convinced that during mandate of Dr Tariq , academic excellence and higher education will continue to improve further “ Dr. Al-Draiweesh added. IIUI President vowed that he will be in the leading ranks for cooperation with the HEC chief as per his aspirations for improvements in higher education.
Dr. Tariq thanked IIUI President and appreciated the services of IIUI. He said universities must be given opportunities for linkages. He wished for projects that advanced universities must cooperate with the developing ones. He also stressed for a cooperation between Muslim world universities.
Earlier, The prime minister had picked Dr Banuri out of four names forwarded to him by a six-member search committee for final selection. Working as professor at the University of Utah, Dr Tariq Banuri holds a PhD degree in economics from the Harvard University and MA in development economics from the Williams College.
