IIUI PAYS RICH TRIBUTES TO ALUMNI MARTYRS OF QUETTA CARNAGE

 quetta 2Participants of a condolence reference at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) which was held for martyrs of Quetta carnage, called for counter narrative approach to get rid of the menace of terrorism.

 IIUI lost 7 of its Alumni lawyers in Monday’s blast which claimed scores of lives in the capital city of Baluchistan province.

The participants condoled to Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai who lost few of his relatives in the sad incident, they also prayed for the eternal peace of departed souls.

 “Nation is facing a tough time, terrorism has crippled the society, it’s time to rise, we need to be united as silence is not a solution” said Dr. Masoom Yasinzai addressing the reference. He furthered that universities would seriously have to take their role of nation building. “Educational institutions are the sources which educate common masses and if this goal is achieved it means the bugbears won’t get any facilitator to get flourished in terms of destructive activities” he added.

 The IIUI Rector told that as many as 200 students hailing from all the regions of country would travel to Quetta where they would raise Pakistani flag to show that nation is united and youth has taken the responsibility to save the soil. He was of the view that mindset of terrorism can be defeated through education only and said that it can make people aware about the plots and ill-plans of enemy.

President Academic Staff Association Dr. Zafar Iqbal said on the occasion that menace of terrorism can be defeated if we take practical steps to curb this fatal phenomena instead of sitting back and waiting for others to solve it. He said that it should be dealt with bravery and counter strategy.

 Mehmood ur Rehman, President Officers Welfare Association said that the pain of the lost lives is not explainable. He added that IIUI is proud of its Alumni who sacrificed their lives.

University Staff Welfare Association President Sardar Khan paid rich tributes to the martyrs and said that university is saddened on the loss of lives of its alumni lawyers.

The reference was also attended by Vice President Academics Dministerr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Director General Khalid Mehmood Raja, Deans, Directors, Administrative and supporting staff of the university.

Meanwhile, Inayatullah, Senior Minister for Local Government Election and Rural Development called on Rector IIUI at his office and condoled on death of his relatives in the Quetta carnage.

During the meeting, issues of mutual interest were discussed. The minister proposed that IIUI should open its school branches in Dir upon which Dr. Masoom Yasinzai assured of maximum cooperation and said that soon an IIUI delegation would visit the districts there too evaluate the feasibility. The minister hailed IIUI for its service to Muslim World and told that a huge number of students get inducted to IIUI as the university is top priority of the residents of his area.
