IIUI Male Campus Continues Tree Plantation Drive as part of its Green Campus vision and commitment to SDGs

A tree plantation drive continued at the Male Campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) as part of the university’s sustained efforts to promote environmental responsibility and advance its green campus initiatives.

This activity forms an integral part of IIUI’s broader vision to protect the environment, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land), of which Pakistan is a signatory. The university regularly undertakes such initiatives to contribute towards a healthier ecosystem and to cultivate environmental awareness within its academic community.

Organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with the Horticulture Section of IIUI under the Spring 2025 Green Campaign, the drive carried the slogan “Save the Environment by Planting a Tree”. The campaign reflects the university’s commitment to embedding environmental stewardship into campus culture.

The latest phase of the drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, with key university officials, including Dr. Inam ul Haq, Director Administration and Works as the Chief Guest; Dr. Ibrar Shinwari, Provost (Male); and Dr. Hafiz Ghufran, Students Advisor, leading the plantation activities.

While addressing the participants, the officials emphasized that tree plantation is not only a prophetic tradition but also a crucial step towards ensuring a sustainable future. They highlighted that involving students in such ventures is especially valuable as it fosters a sense of social responsibility, environmental consciousness, and collective ownership of university spaces — essential qualities for future leaders and responsible citizens.

Students planted saplings across designated areas of the Male Campus, contributing to the university’s ongoing vision of building a greener and healthier environment.

The event concluded with a group photo of the participants, reaffirming their commitment to environmental protection and sustainable practices. The drive stands as a testament to IIUI’s efforts to create awareness about climate action and instil a culture of care for nature within its academic community.

Students and faculty at IIUI once again demonstrated their commitment to environmental protection, contributing actively towards the university’s vision of a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable campus.
