IIUI-Huawei HIC Hosts Seminars on Safety Culture and Wireless Innovation

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DECE) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with Huawei, organized two seminars as part of the IIUI-Huawei Hardware Installation Camp (HIC). The sessions aimed to enhance students’ understanding of workplace safety and evolving communication technologies.

The first seminar, “Building a Culture of Safety: From Awareness to Action”, focused on Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and was tailored for students of the BSEE program. Mr. M. Mohsin Rafi, a certified QEHS professional with practical industry experience including Huawei projects, led the session. He emphasized the importance of safety protocols and shared best practices for maintaining a secure work environment.

The second seminar, “Wireless Frontiers: Innovations Transforming Communication”, brought together industry and academic experts. Mr. Hammad Bin Masood from Huawei and Dr. Athar Waseem from IIUI discussed advancements in wireless technologies and their impact on the communication sector. Topics included the progression from 2G to 4G and the future direction of wireless systems.

Students participated actively in both sessions, gaining exposure to practical knowledge beyond the classroom. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean FET and Director ORIC, presented shields to the guest speakers and commended Huawei’s role in supporting academic-industry collaboration. He also highlighted the HIC facility as a platform for skill development and discussed plans for future training programs.

The seminars reflected IIUI’s ongoing efforts to equip students with relevant skills for emerging challenges in engineering and technology.
