IIUI HOSTS ECONOMETRIC MODELLING WORKSHOP 

econometrics imageInternational Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) hosted a five day workshop on “Econometric Modelling & Applications for Economics and Finance” which was attended by 90 economics researchers, academicians and scholars who explored ways to impart knowledge on data issues, analysis, econometric modeling and its applications in the context of empirical research.

The participants covered the topics such as time series econometrics, problems of auto correlation, static analysis, dynamic analysis and other relevant points according to the title of workshop.

The workshop was organized by the International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIIE) of the university which concluded at the male campus after a ceremony which was presided over by President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.

“University is working with zeal on its vision of internationalization, it is discussed with IIIE faculty to also launch short courses on salient topics of economics which will be explored in the light of Islamic teachings” said the IIUI President.

 He added that it is essential to gear up for combating the upcoming challenges and IIUI is managing all its disciplines according to the contemporary requirements integrated with teachings of Islam. Dr. Al-Draiweesh also hailed the IIIE faculty while saying that the institute has produced some renowned names in the field of Islamic Economics.

He said that such workshops can help in improving the skills of academicians and graduate students as well as practitioners through the latest econometric and statistical modeling techniques.

 Earlier, Dr. Aitzaz Ahmed, the Director IIIE said that the workshop in its intensive sessions was a successful event which helped the veteran and young researches to exchange experiences.

The event’s concluding ceremony was also attended by the Vice President IIUI Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Deans of the university, Chairman of the IIIE Departmrnt and faculty members of the IIIE.
