IIUI Holds Spring 2026 Tree Plantation Drive with HHRD

Islamabad: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a Spring 2026 Tree Plantation Drive under the theme “Save Environment by Planting a Tree” at its H-10 Campus in collaboration with Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD).

President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, inaugurated the campaign by planting an olive tree in the University’s Olive Garden. Briefing the President, Director Administration Dr. Inam ul Haq highlighted the University’s ongoing plantation initiatives, including the establishment of the Olive Garden. He shared that HHRD has provided 1,200 self-pollinated olive plants and installed a water filtration plant at the male hostels.

Addressing participants, the President emphasized the importance of tree plantation in addressing climate change and promoting a healthier environment. He appreciated HHRD’s support in advancing environmental and community development efforts.

In an inclusive gesture, three differently-abled students from the Department of Sociology — Kainat, Amna Bibi, and Sabahat Khan — planted saplings alongside the President.

Representing HHRD, Raheel Ahmed (Program Manager – Youth Program), Shahida Sazwar, Dr. M. Arshad Baloch, and Saad Saeed participated in the activity. University officials, members of the Horticulture team, and students were also present.

Later, the President met the HHRD delegation in his office, appreciated their humanitarian contributions, and presented dates as a Ramadan gift. The event concluded with a commitment to continue joint initiatives for environmental protection and youth engagement.
