IIUI Holds Second Meeting on Academic Alignment with Emerging Technologies and INSPIRE Initiative

The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held the Second Meeting of the Special Committee on Academic & Research Alignment with Emerging Technologies and the National INSPIRE Initiative on February 25, 2026, at the Council Hall, Admin Block. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President (Research & Enterprise). The Committee reviewed progress on tasks assigned during its previous session and discussed strategic measures to align the University’s academic and research ecosystemwith emerging technology trends and national digital transformation priorities. Faculty representatives presented detailed assessments of academic resources, faculty requirements, and infrastructure planning to support enhanced student enrolment and the introduction of new programs in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Emphasis was placed on maintaining accreditation compliance and expediting engagement with relevant accreditation bodies. Discussions also focused on improving IIUI’s national standing in computing and engineering disciplines, promoting interdisciplinary academic programs, and optimizing institutional resources through shared facilities and expanded academic utilization. The Committee further reviewed developments related to newly introduced technology programs within the Faculty of Engineering & Technology and discussed future faculty planning and accreditation preparedness. Key outcomes included the formation of a dedicated group to pursue accreditation follow-ups, planning for early admission outreach initiatives, development of a centralized faculty resource model for interdisciplinary programs, and exploration of market-driven graduate programs to enhance MS enrolment. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of IIUI’s commitment to strengthening its academic positioning in emerging technologies and contributing actively to national innovation and digital transformation initiatives.
