IIUI Holds National Symposium on Arabic Language Under Patronage of University President

The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), organized a national symposium titled Arabic Language Is Our Responsibility at the old campus through its Faculty of Arabic in observance of World Arabic Language Day.

The symposium gathered a diverse audience, including Arabic language teachers from multiple nationalities, experts from public and private universities, diplomats, intellectuals, researchers, and academic leaders. Participants from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt were among the international attendees, adding significant scholarly and cultural value to the proceedings. The Ambassador of Egypt, the Ambassador of Yemen, and Sheikh Dr. Habib Rahman Asim were among the prominent guests, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening the language of the Holy Qur’an and its academic role.

Professor Dr. Fazlullah Fazl Al-Ahad, Dean of the Faculty of Arabic, opened the event by welcoming the distinguished guests and acknowledging their participation. He noted the importance of academic collaboration, exchange of expertise, and initiatives aimed at advancing the Arabic language in Pakistan’s academic landscape.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed stated that the symposium reaffirmed Arabic as a collective responsibility rather than a ceremonial occasion. He highlighted the historical and civilizational significance of Arabic, noting its deep influence on the intellectual and cultural development of the Muslim world. He emphasized the linguistic richness of Arabic—its precision, vast vocabulary, and relevance across disciplines.

He also outlined the vision of the College of Arabic Language in promoting Arabic studies through conferences, seminars, training programs, and academic partnerships. These initiatives, he said, have strengthened the College’s position as a leading institution preparing qualified scholars and researchers in Arabic studies. The President identified key challenges to Arabic education in Pakistan, including limited modern teaching resources, curriculum gaps, and diverse local languages, while stressing that opportunities exist to enhance Arabic language programs nationwide.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed acknowledged the continued support extended to IIUI by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that this support has contributed significantly to strengthening Arabic language education and research at the university. He described this support as long-standing and rooted in the Kingdom’s commitment to serving the language of the Holy Qur’an, enabling future initiatives and academic advancements.

In conclusion, the President emphasized that devotion to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is reflected through sincere adherence to Islamic teachings and the Sunnah. He added that serving the Arabic language—the language of revelation—is an essential part of this commitment, as it connects Muslims to the teachings and character of the Prophet and remains a shared responsibility across society.
