IIUI HOLDS MEET-UP OF PROs

APPROPRIATE USE OF DIGITAL, SOCIAL MEDIA VITAL FOR SUCCESSFUL PR: PROs’ MEET-UP AGREES

It was the crux of a muster of Public Relations Officers (PROs) of universities of twin cities organized by the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) here in Islamabad.

On the occasion of this meet-up, a lecture on “ Do’s and Don’ts of PR and its contemporary strategies” was also organized which was addressed by a veteran PR expert and former Chief of Communication, UNICEF, Ramzan Azhar.

“Public relations department is face of every organization and its officials must be updated to the contemporary requirements of hour” said Vice President, IIUI Prof. Dr. Muhammad Munir who was chief guest of this muster and lecture. He added that PR was a challenging job and PROs must have strong nerves and abilities to face the challenges within minimum time. “PR officials basically play a role of bridge between an institution, media and public” Dr. Munir maintained.

Ramzan Azhar’s lecture discussed tips of PR and also identified common mistakes of Public Relations officials. “Social media is indeed a most vital medium of the age but one must have to be expert on it on tailoring and disseminating messages as it can create problems if not handled properly” said former UNICEF Chief of communication.

This is the age when world has shrunk in the palms of human through smart gadgets, if someone is looking to meet the best Public Relations results , he must have to be well advanced in using the mediums such as social media, said Mohsin Bilal, Group Editor, Daily Ausaf. He added that PROs who are hesitant to adopt new ways of PR, they will ultimately lack behind in the fast age. He furthered that media organization; through PR offices of varsities would have to link the educational institutions to society.

Syed Hassan Aftab told in his speech that university was mulling over such meet up since long because such activities were a source of sharing mutual experiences that help in resolving professional issues in minimum time. He vowed that IIUI would keep taking initiatives for networking of PR fraternity.

The event ended with distribution of certificates to participants and presentation of souvenirs to the guests.
