The Directorate of Student Affairs (Male) continued the ongoing Kashmir Solidarity Week activities at the International Islamic University Islamabad by organizing a Kashmir Solidarity Day Cricket Match. The event brought together students, staff, and sports officials, reinforcing the spirit of unity, camaraderie, and support for the Kashmiri cause through sports.
Student Advisor (Male) Dr. H. Ghufran Ahmad visited the venue, interacted with both teams, and addressed the players and organizers. In his remarks, he appreciated the initiative, encouraged healthy competition, and highlighted the role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and mutual respect among students.
The match was played between International Islamic University and Kashmir XI, attracting considerable interest from the university community. After winning the toss, Kashmir XI elected to bat first and set a target of 223 runs in 30 overs. Their batting side displayed resilience, but the IIUI bowling attack maintained control throughout the innings. Ehtisham Khan took two wickets with consistent line and length, while Muhammad Usman delivered an impressive spell, claiming three wickets. Mashwani also contributed effectively with two wickets, helping restrict the opposition’s scoring.
In response, the IIUI team approached the chase with composure and collective effort. Waleed Khan played a key innings of 73 runs, anchoring the batting lineup. Team captain Ziaullah led from the front with a composed knock of 56 runs, while Ehtisham Khan added valuable support with 40 runs, ensuring stability during crucial moments of the chase.
With disciplined batting and effective teamwork, International Islamic University successfully chased the target and secured victory in a closely contested match. The win added to the significance of the Kashmir Solidarity Week celebrations on campus.
The event was organized under the supervision of Coach Naseer Ahmed Mughal, whose planning and coordination ensured the smooth conduct of the match. At the conclusion of the game, trophies and medals were presented to the winning team in a formal ceremony.
