A condolence reference was held on Thursday at the New Campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) to pay tribute to the late Prof. Dr. N.B. Jumani, the former Vice President of the university.
The gathering was attended by the President of IIUI, Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors General (DGs), faculty members, and administrative staff. During the reference, speakers shared their memories of Dr. Jumani, recalling his remarkable contributions to the university and the field of education. His leadership, vision, and affectionate personality were highlighted as key aspects of his legacy.
In his address, the President of IIUI expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Dr. Jumani as a “great asset” to the university. He praised his efforts in driving crucial reforms for the institution’s progress and his unwavering commitment to improving education standards. The Vice Presidents and other speakers also lauded his dedication, emphasizing that his absence would be keenly felt in the academic community.
The reference concluded with prayers for Dr. Jumani’s soul, as participants honored his lifelong dedication to education and the lasting impact of his work.
Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani was a distinguished academic and educator with over 31 years of experience. He held a PhD in Education from Allama Iqbal Open University and completed his post-doctoral studies in Distance Education from Deakin University, Australia. Renowned for his work in distance learning and program design, he authored over 100 research papers and contributed 11 chapters to educational curriculums. Dr. Jumani supervised more than 20 PhD and 32 MS scholars and led major projects funded by USAID, the EU, and UNESCO. He also served as Editor for the International Journal of Distance Education and Asian Journal of Distance Education, leaving an enduring legacy in both academic leadership and education policy reforms.
