IIUI HOLDS 74TH MEETING OF ACADEMIC COUNCIL

The 74th meeting of academic council of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) was held under the chairmanship of President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.

The meeting was attended by Vice-Presidents, deans, Director Academics and heads of departments and other faculty. It was also attended by Ms. Razina Alam Khan, (Ex-Senator, Senate of Pakistan) and Prof. Dr. Saeed-ur-Rehman,  Professor of Islamic Studies,  Bahuaddin Zakria University, Multan as eminent scholars nominated by board of governors.

The IIUI President called for contemporary and relevant to the society research and urged that culture of research among the students be promoted. He highlighted the importance of academic council and maintained that it is one of the most vital forums to pursue the university’s goal of internationalization and dissemination of message of Islam. IIUI President, while discussing the agenda items said that academic excellence is the top most priority of the university and training courses, conferences and research papers must be encouraged.

Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily, Vice President  thanked the President of the university for attending and chairing the meeting and appreciated his efforts for the development of university. He also apprised about the academic performance of the university and ongoing communication with various bodies .

The council made various decisions and issued recommendations and ended with a note that academic excellence would be pursued as top priority of the university.

It is pertinent to mention that Academic Council is the academic body of the University and subject to the provisions of this Ordinance and the Statutes have the power to lay down proper standards of instruction, research and examinations and to regulate and promote the academic life of the University.

The Academic Council advises the Board of Governors on academic matters and exercises such powers and performs such duties as may be assigned to it by the Board of Governors and those prescribed by the Statutes.
