IIUI Faculty of Engineering and Technology Holds Workshop on Academic and Career Growth

 

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), organized a workshop titled “Journey to Excellence: Bridging Academic Goals and Personal Development” aimed at guiding students and faculty on career growth and research collaboration.

The session featured Professor Dr. Waseem Haider from Central Michigan University, USA, who engaged with faculty, students, and alumni of FET.

The workshop was formally opened by Engr. Imtiaz Alam Shah, who introduced the guest and outlined the objectives of the workshop. The program consisted of three sessions: a comprehensive presentation by Dr. Waseem Haider, a question-answer interaction, and concluding remarks by Dr. Ihsan ul Haq.

Key topics discussed included career counselling, postgraduate study opportunities abroad, strategies for impactful CVs and proposals, and personal and academic development. The workshop provided a platform for students to gain insight into international academic standards and professional expectations.

During his visit, Dr. Waseem Haider also held meetings with departmental heads including Dr. Ihsan ul Haq, Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Dr. Rafi Ullah Khan, Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik, the discussions explored avenues such as faculty exchange, joint supervision of research projects, and a potential memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The visiting professor toured the laboratories of various departments including DCE, DECE, DME, and CAEPE, where research prospects and collaborative projects were reviewed. The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen academic cooperation and promote shared educational objectives.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Engr. Muhammad Amjad, Assistant Professor at DME, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean of FET. The event witnessed active participation from students and alumni, promoting dialogue on academic excellence and career readiness.
