
Islamabad — The closing ceremony of the 10-Day Workshop on Research Methodology in Social Sciences was held at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The training was organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences in collaboration with the Directorate of Graduate Studies to strengthen research skills among students and young scholars.
Around 124 participants, including BS, MS, and PhD students from IIUI and other universities across Pakistan, attended the sessions aimed at developing practical competencies in social science research.
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President (Research and Enterprise), graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest. He commended the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Directorate of Graduate Studies for organizing a constructive academic activity. Addressing the participants, he stressed that the true value of research lies in its practical application, adding that quality research serves as the backbone of national progress and academic development.

Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed also appreciated the contributions of the faculty and resource persons for their efforts in guiding students through the fundamentals of research design, data analysis, and academic writing.
The Director of Graduate Studies acknowledged the enthusiasm of the participants and said that such engagements reflect the growing research culture among young scholars. He reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to expanding academic and professional training opportunities in the future.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences congratulated the resource persons—Prof. Dr. Riaz Shad, Dr. Noreen Sehar, Dr. Tauqir Sargana, Dr. Nazia Iqbal, Dr. Qandil Abbas, Dr. Nadeem Mirza, and Dr. Rabia Ali—and the organizers, Dr. Maryam Siddiqa and Dr. Tariq Sultan, for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the success of the workshop. He appreciated the students’ active participation, describing it as a valuable contribution to the university’s research environment.
Participants expressed gratitude to the university administration for arranging a productive and interactive learning experience. They suggested organizing similar workshops regularly to further promote research culture at IIUI.
In recognition of their successful participation, certificates were awarded to 60 MS/PhD scholars and 64 BS students during the closing ceremony.
