An eight member delegation from Afghanistan visited International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) New Campus and discussed matters pertaining to boosting bilateral educational ties in a detailed meeting with IIUI President, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh and vice President (Academics), Prof. Muhammad Tahir Khalily. The delegation included Ms. Haseena Sayed, Political Advisor, Mr. Musa Arefi, Director General, Syed Abdul Nasir Yousufi, Deputy Director General, Mr. Jallat Khan Fayaz, Desk Officer, from Ministry of Education, Foreign Affairs and Higher Education Authority, Afghanistan, Mr. Shaifullah Naimi Chancellor, Rana University, Mr. Muhammad Zia Sana, Vice Chancellor Kabul Polytechnic University, Ms. Fawzia Koofi, Women Right Activist and Ms Sonia Shinwari fom Zan TV, Afghanistan.
During the meeting with the delegation, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said that Afghanistan is a country which has splendid history and a large number of students acquired education at IIUI in different disciplines while, after completing education from IIUI most of the students are serving in Afghanistan and Pakistan on mentionable positions. He briefed the delegation about the linkages of the university and told that internationalization is one of the core objectives of the IIUI and it strongly encourages bilateral cooperation with all the educational institutions of the world. Dr. Draiweesh, also told the delegation about university’s linkages to the various universities across the globe.
The Afghan delegation thanked President, IIUI for warm welcoming them at the campus and wished that well-established educational relations can help in further improving relationship between both countries.
On the occasion, a documentary on IIUI was also played for the delegation. Prof. Dr. Tahir Khalily, Vice President (Academics), IIUI briefed the delegation about the University, its academic programs, research contributions and presence of foreign faculty members and foreign students studying at the campus having diverse cultures.
