IIU RECTOR EMPHASIZES ACADEMIA-INDUSTRY BOND FOR BRIGHT FUTURE

Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector International Islamic University, has said knowledge is the driver of economic progress, all eyes are focused on higher education sector to play an effective role.

Talking to a national newspaper, he said The IIUI Rector Professor Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said that linkage of academia and focus on knowledge economy are the key elements to solve our issues. “We must vow to put academia and industry into a bond so that we be able to solve our issues at our own through education” he said. He added that it is the need of hour that youth must be nurtured in the light of Islamic teachings. Dr Masoom said youth of the country have proved that they support peace and tranquility. Talking about peace in society, the rector said education was the ultimate source to disseminate peace and culture of dialogue among the societies. He said educational institutions must play a role of solution providers. Dr Masoom said the IIU had always focused to teach peace and love for humanity to its students through its initiatives such as Paigham e Pakistan.

Talking about the modern trends, Dr. Masoom said that this is the age of incubation and patents, IIUI has dedicated slots in Business Incubation Centre (BIC) for the young minds who have out of the box idea. The incubation center innovation would spin  their project in industry and they will be given support to be  solution providers in the society.

Praising the single national curriculum, the IIU Rector said that this is an imperative initiative by the government. He said uniformed policy for education shall bring Madassa into mainstream and it will also help in discouraging the disparity in the education system.

He opined that research without any impact on society is a null and void effort; therefore, educational institutions along with the country’s leadership will have to devise a comprehensive strategy to work as per relevance to the societal needs. Thousands of research papers from the country in reputed impact factor journals will be of no use if they don’t have links with practical implementation in society.

Responding to a question about women empowerment, Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said that IIUI is the biggest example of women empowerment as it has separated and dedicated campus for the female students where around 16 thousand women are acquiring higher education in the light of Islamic teachings.
