ICCI Delegation Calls on President IIUI; Discusses Academia–Industry Collaboration

A high-level delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI), led by its President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, paid a courtesy call on the President, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), on the sidelines of the Job Fair organized at the university.

The ICCI delegation comprised Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub, Vice President Muhammad Irfan Chaudhary, Chairman Standing Committee on HEC & Industrial Academia M. Adnan Mukhtar, Convenor ICCI Software Development Committee Muhammad Usman, Convenor ICCI Computer Hardware Committee Aizaz Muhammad, and senior ICCI member Muhammad Aslam Khokhar.

From IIUI, the meeting was attended by Vice President (Research & Enterprise) Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed and Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) Dr. Muhammad Amir.

During the meeting, President IIUI termed the ongoing Job Fair a practical step towards linking academia with industry, stating that such initiatives create a win-win situation for both sides.

He said IIUI is creating opportunities and platforms that connect students directly with industry stakeholders. Prof Dr. Ahmed reaffirmed the IIUI’s commitment to aligning academic programs with market needs and strengthening linkages with the industrial sector.

The President ICCI apprised that more than 10,000 members and partner organizations constitute the real market, offering vast opportunities for talented and skilled students. He appreciated IIUI and its vision to link final year students to the industry.

Vice President (R&E) Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed briefed the ICCI delegation on the scope and performance of IIUI’s Business Incubation Centre (BIC) and highlighted various university initiatives, including CAEPE.

He also shared insights into IIUI’s international standing, research profile, and ongoing academic and industrial collaboration projects.

Dr. Muhammad Amir informed the that over 40 industries are participating in the job fair, while students from 11 different academic disciplines are taking part, reflecting the growing trust of the industrial sector in the university’s graduates.

The President IIUI appreciated ICCI’s engagement and emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation between universities and chambers of commerce to enhance employability, innovation, and national economic development.

The meeting concluded with mutual consensus on further strengthening collaboration in the areas of internships, industrial research, entrepreneurship, and workforce development.
