HOLY QURAN BEST SOURCE OF GLOBAL PEACE, SAYS DR. AL-DRAIWEESH

The world is in dire need of peace, love and virtue and these salient features of healthy societies can be taken from the teachings of Holy Quran, said International Islamic University  (IIU) President  Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh .

This he said while speaking in an inauguration ceremony titled as “ 2020 Year of Quran” organized by Institute of Professional Development (IPD)   of university that is observing this year in IIUI School as Year of Quran.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif A. Al Draiweesh, Worthy President IIUI lauded the efforts of IPD and Dawah Academy and appreciated school directors, principals, teachers, parents and students for being part of this blessed activity. He said that Islamic University was set up for the same purpose and IIUI Schools and University are one entity.

He assured every possible support for the IPD and IIUI Schools. Quoting the Hadith of Prophet PBUH ‘The best amongst you is the one who teaches and learns Quran’, he urged everyone learn Arabic which is the language of the Quran. He added that religion Islam urges people to science and knowledge.

He maintained that Islamic educational institution must promote Quran and its sciences. He also spoke about the importance of mosques and said that these imperative places in the Muslim society and added that mosques the real institutions and hubs of learning and decisions. He reiterated his resolve the progress of IIUI would be the top mot priority and it will soon make its prominent place in the well-developed educational institutions of the world.

On this occasion, in collaboration with Dawah Academy, IPD held one of the largest National Qirat Competition. More than 20,000 students participated in the competitions

across Pakistan in various categories and 150 students were invited for the final rounds at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus.First, second and third positions were announced for 12 students in four categories.

Prof. Dr. Tahir Mahmood, Director General, Dawah Academy stressed that Ummah needs to connect to Quran and each one of us has a responsibility to share this passion. He appreciated IPD team for taking this initiative and reiterated that Dawah Academy will provide every possible support for YEAR OF QURAN 2020 events and activities.  Ms Saneeha Khalid thanked the Chief Guest and all the delegates for attending the event. Shields were awarded to the winners and souvenirs were exchanged at the end.

 

Earlier, Mr. Kashif Suhail Malik, Consultant/Master Trainer IPD welcomed delegates and briefed about the background of the YEAR OF QURAN 2020 activities. He also explained how IIUI Schools are articulating understanding of Quran in curriculum and schooling.
