A grand iftar dinner was held here at Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) guest house of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).
The Iftar dinner was hosted by IIUI President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, while it was attended by IIUI Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and Oman, diplomats of other Islamic countries, renowned journalists, Ministers and politicians including Pir Noor ul Haq Qadri, Raja Riaz Fatiyana, renowned journalists and other prominent figures of society.
Diplomats shared the experiences, traditions and cultural environment of Ramazan and Eid in their countries. The participants agreed that all Islamic countries have similarities and this month further strengthens the bond of unity and brotherhood among them. Participants were of the view that such gatherings provide opportunities for cultural exchange.
IIUI President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh urged the Muslim youth to disseminate Islam’s message of peace adding that fasting is all about patience, virtue and peace. He said Holy month of Ramadan is an opportunity to get rid of societal issues and prevailing mal practices as it makes the minds, souls and actions as limpid as water.
IIUI President hoped that Muslims across the world would be able to make Allah almighty happy and get his blessings by practicing the true spirit of the great month.
He urged that students’ induction from Islamic countries should rise adding that diplomats can play vital role in exchange of faculty, students and inviting new students to the university.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh stressed the unity of Muslims while saying that Islamic countries are rich in natural resources in comparison to the whole world but are still facing problems such as instability and economic recession.
He was of the view that the unity of Muslims is the solution to the problems of the Islamic world. The Iftar dinner was also attended by IIUI Vice Presidents, Deans and other high ups.
