GOVERNMENT FOCUSED ON IMPROVEMENTS IN POWER, SECURITY SECTORS, SAYS MINISTER ZUBAIR

ACADEMIA, INDUSTRY GAP BE FILLED FOR RAPID PROGRESS, SAY EXPERTS

Govjjjkjkjl copyernment is focused on improvement in the sectors of power, security and regional trade and a well devised policy has resulted in positive development as industry is being provided load-shedding free power supply, said Minister of state for Privatization, Muhammad Zubair on Tuesday.

At a two-day 5th international moot on “Applied Business Research” organized by Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) at Faisal Masjid campus, the Minister said that power generation units would be producing 13 thousand MW electricity by 2018.

Talking on the CPEC project, Muhammad Zubair said that 34billion of the project are focused on power sector. He was of the view the post 9/11 circumstances resulted in constraints for national development, while present government is keen to establish a peaceful milieu in the region.

The minister furthered that universities have a significance role in a nation’s progress, while he assured that every possible support would be provided to education sector for improvements. He lauded IIUI for its role in dissemination of quality education and felicitated the varsity on arranging a vital conference.

IIUI Rector, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said in his speech that key focus of the universities should be on bridging the gap between academia and industry, adding that it would help in producing skilled professional who can contribute in social, economical and political spheres. The IIUI Rector maintained that the university is the fastest growing educational institution which caters the contemporary needs and provides quality education in the light of Islamic teachings. Dr. Masoom stressed that culture of research must be the top most priority of academia as it is a gateway to success.

Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI was of the view that progress is impossible unless Muslim world would focus on knowledge. He said that universities must be utilized as solution providing sources through their research and constructive steps such as arrangement of conferences and seminars. The IIUI President hoped that the conferences would end with useful recommendations which would provide a focus point to devise strategies for solutions of contemporary problems of applied business research.

The opening ceremony of the conference was also attended by Vice President IIUI, Dr. Muhammad Bahsir Khan, Deputy Dean FMS Owais Ejaz, Deans, Directors, faculty members and a large number of students.

As many as 68 research papers would be presented in the 14 sessions of two day conferences which will be chaired and participated by the national and international researchers and experts.
