Funeral prayers in absentia for Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, the former Vice President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), were offered at the Faisal Masjid on Thursday.
The prayer was led by the Khateeb of Faisal Masjid, Qari Dr. Zia ur Rehman, and was attended by a large gathering, including university officials, faculty members, students, and residents from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The somber event witnessed a wide range of participants from the academic community, reflecting the profound impact Dr. Jumani had on education and the International Islamic University.
Following the Namaz-e-Janaza, attendees joined in dua, seeking forgiveness for the departed and praying for his place in Jannah. The Khateeb, Dr. Zia ur Rehman, emphasized the significance of Dr. Jumani’s contributions to education and highlighted how his loss was felt not only by his family but by the entire academic fraternity. The crowd, moved by the solemnity of the occasion, paid tribute to Dr. Jumani’s legacy.
Prof. Dr. Jumani was well-regarded for his leadership at IIUI, where he played a vital role in steering the institution through various reforms and initiatives. His sudden passing last Saturday during surgery has left a void in the academic and administrative circles of the university. He was laid to rest in his native village in Sindh.
