FMS HOLDS ENTREPRENEURIAL WORKSHOP, SUMMIT & CORPORATE ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

FMS Placement and Alumni Cell, Faculty of Management Sciences organized a series of activities such as Entrepreneurial Workshop, Entrepreneurial Summit and 3rd Corporate Advisory Board meeting at Faisal Masjid Campus, IIUI.

The participants of Entrepreneurial Workshop were students (20 male and 20 female) of undergraduate and graduate degree programs and are currently working on their business plans. The resource person for the workshop were Dr. Safdar Ali Butt (Entrepreneur and Financial Expert) and Eng. Ahsen Mirza (Director, Business Incubation Center).  The purpose of the workshop was to enlighten students about the importance of finance for startups and various stages involved in idea development.

The Entrepreneurial summit with theme of “Entrepreneurship as a career” began with the opening address of Rector IIUI, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh presided the concluding summit with his closing remarks. The purpose of this summit was to motivate students to pursue entrepreneurship as a career and give them an insight about challenges; difference between idea development and implementation. The key note speakers were Mr. Pervez Abbasi (Director, National Incubation Center), Mr. Javed Iqbal (Director General Manager, SMEDA), Dr. Safdar Ali Butt (Entrepreneur and Financial Expert), Mr. Salman Farooq.

Meanwhile, Faculty of Management Sciences organized its 3rdcorporate advisory board meeting under the chairmanship of President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh on 29 November 2018 at IRD Guest House, Faisal Mosque Campus, IIUI. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali shah Deputy Dean, FMS started the meeting with his opening remarks and then moderated the session.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss how universities can develop academic curricula and introduce courses targeting entrepreneurs and students, who wish to pursue an entrepreneurial path and,  way through which universities can engage and collaborate with organizations which may include educational institutions for improving the entrepreneurial ventures of local and foreignentrepreneurs.

At the end, President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh appreciated the efforts of Deputy Dean (FMS), members of the corporate advisory board and the organizers. He further elaborated that students should be guided to practice and understands the current challenges of the business world. He also said that IIUI is trying their best to address the knowledge gap and skill shortcomings that prevent our students in becoming an entrepreneur and run their business effectively. The meeting ended with vote of thanks by president IIUI.
