
The Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), and the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance academic, research, and policy-oriented collaboration between the two institutions.
The MoU establishes a structured framework for cooperation in areas of shared interest, including joint research and publications, academic exchange, capacity-building initiatives, and outreach activities. Under the agreement, both institutions will collaborate on research and publishing projects, disseminate scholarly work through print, electronic, and digital platforms, and promote dialogue among scholars, experts, practitioners, and policymakers.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, IIUI, and Dr. Khalid Rehman, Chairman, IPS, highlighted the importance of linking academic research with policy discourse to effectively address contemporary social, economic, and governance challenges. They underscored that sustained engagement between academia and policy institutions is essential for informed decision-making and societal development.
The speakers also acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Maryam Siddiqa from the Department of Politics and International Relations for her role in finalizing the MoU. They expressed confidence that the partnership would contribute to evidence-based policymaking, academic excellence, and the promotion of informed public discourse at national and international levels.
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Syed Abrar Hussain and Ms. Shafaq Sarfraz from the Institute of Policy Studies, along with faculty members from all departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University Islamabad.
