Urdu is the National Language of Pakistan and reflects its remarkable and rich historical and cultural heritage. Besides it is spoken by 700 million people around the globe and second among most spoken language groups in the world. Because of the strategic importance of Pakistan, this language has become the focus of attention of the international community and the number of people seeking to learn Urdu is increasing day by day. In this context, Department of Urdu, International Islamic University has designed a variety of programs and determined to enhance the standard of the teaching of Urdu language and Literature and expand its programs in compliance with the need of time. For the purpose, the Department offers PhD .M. Phil, MA Urdu, BS Urdu, for Pakistani students & MA Urdu, BS Urdu, Post Graduate Diploma, Advance Diploma in Urdu, Pashto, Baloochi & Persian and Urdu Certificate Course for Foreigner Students.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. The department designed the modern research methodology under the light of Islamic and modern western research. The other Universities of the country are adopting this methodology and it is a great honour to our department.
  2. The department introduced unique and invative topics of research, at Ms & Ph. D levels.
  3. The Department started a series of Individual Seminars on various issues /topics.
