Dr. Robina Khan Niazi, Lab. Manager, Department of Biological Sciences has said that an amount of USD 114,977 research funding is expected for the year 2022 from University of Copenhagen, Denmark for an international research project on “Familial Metabolic Disorders from the Pakistani Population”.
She added that it will be in continuation of this project as the same amount of funding was granted in the year 2021 for this very project.
Currently, Dr. Robina Khan Niazi is working on several projects on rare metabolic diseases in collaboration with University of Copenhagen, Denmark and University of Washington, USA. By using the high through put research technologies, these projects are mainly focused on disease severity, diagnosis, treatment with available treatments and development of drugs and therapies if treatment is not available. Hence, she is establishing the trend of patient’s treatment by moving towards the personalized medicine in Pakistan.
Dr. Niazi has done her PhD in Medical Biotechnology/Genetics from IIU and has 66.9 impact factor of her research publications. Her area of research interest includes health sciences, Medical Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, and Epidemiology. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shuja Syed, Vice President (R&E) and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan Khan, Dean, FBAS highly appreciated her on her efforts on the project.
