DR. MUSHTAQ AHMED HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR (ORIC)

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Professor of Physics, Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS) has been appointed as Director ORIC. According to a notification, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, has been assigned additional responsibility of the office of the Director (ORIC).

Dr. Mushtaq is working as Professor, Department of Physics, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Pakistan. He possesses diversified experience in administration, research and teaching.

He has spent 13 years as a Junior Scientist (SPS-8 or BPS-17) (1-9-1999 to 30-11-2001) and then senior Scientist (SPS-9 or BPS-18) (1-12-2001 to 31-7-2012) in Pakistan atomic energy commission with extensive involvement in R&D. He has experience of administration as a head of Department of Physics in Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM).

He also has privilege of working as Director of Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) and Dean, Faculty of Physical and Numerical Sciences of AWKUM. He has also privilege of working as a member in selection board of GCU Lahore, Malakand University Malakand, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar, Hazara University Mansehra and Federal College of Education Islamabad. He remained a member of Board of Faculty (BOF), Board of Studies (BOS), and Board of Advance Studies and Research (BASR) of AWKUM and IIUI.

Also, he is a three years permanent member of BOS at Department of Physics, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad and one-year member for BOS at Department of Physics Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar.

His areas of interest have been theoretical physics, Teacher physics, Curriculum Development, Research and Development. In addition to master’s and Ph.D. degrees in physics he holds MS degree in Nuclear and applied Physics from Pakistan Institute of Engineering & Applied Sciences (PIEAS).

He has training exposure to famous universities of the world. For his Post Doctorate studies he has undergone training at the University of Sydney Australia, ranked 42nd in the world in 2019, and is the oldest of top Australian universities (established in 1850). For advanced theoretical physics studies, he went three times to Abdus Salam-International centre for Theoretical Physics (AS-ICTP), Trieste Italy.

Dr. Mushtaq has won Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST) Research productivity award for 5 years and his last three awards were in A category. Professor Mushtaq has 97 Research publications and he also won Best University Teacher Award back in 2015. He has published papers with the impact factor of more than 170. He has  as many as 1700 citations on his account.
