DSA FEMALE CAMPUS HOLDS SEMINAR ON KASHMIR SOLIDARITY DAY
The Directorate of Students Affairs, DSA of Female Campus of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar entitled “Kashmir Issue and Contemporary World” in Auditorium Fatima-tuz-Zahra Block, Female Campus.
The activity was organized under the supervision of Dr. SummayyaChughtai, Students Advisor (Female). The objective of the seminar was to pay homage to the martyrs to denounce the human rights violations and to express solidarity with the freedom struggle in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. A large number of faculty members and students attended the seminar. Dr. Naila Rafique, Deputy Director Students Affairs hosted the event and briefed the participants of seminar about the aim and theme of the event enthusiastically and soulfully during the seminar.
Key speakers Dr. Noor Fatima, In-Charge, Politics and International Relations Department (Female) and Provost, Dr. Humaira Ashfaq from Urdu Department shed light on different perspectives of Kashmir issue. Dr. Humaira Ashfaq discussed the Kashmir issue in Urdu literature and quoted different grafts from literature which reflect the sufferings and sacrifices of people of Kashmir.
Dr. Noor Fatima briefed the seminar participants on the international perspective of conflict. Dr. Noor Fatima explained the technical aspects of this issue in a very simple and comprehensible way.
Dr. Faryal Ambreen, In-Charge Dawah Center for Women (DCW) who was the guest of honor in this seminar said that the entire Pakistani Nation stood by their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in support of their courageous struggle to attain their legitimate right to self-determination.
Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students Advisor (Female) also expressed her views regarding solidarity with Kashmiri people while, faculty members and lauded the role of students for arranging the seminar and thanked keynote speakers for their precious contribution. Dr. Sumayya motivated students to play their active role to present this issue on international platforms using new media. A solidarity walk was also organized by the Directorate of Students Affairs at the end of the seminar in the Female Campus.

Essay Writing and Declamation Competitions organized by Students’ Adviser Office, Female Campus held on 23rd–24th December 2020 among university students to unleash the hidden talent of our students. Different students from all faculties participated in competitions.
Welcome back to the Campus /Information Desk for New Students
IIUI has switched from virtual learning to in-person learning after the precariousness caused due to COVID-19 and the campus has come alive again. Students arrived with a range of emotions, all rolled together. The Students’ Advisor office (Female Campus) arranged various items for welcoming the new and old students. Various play cards were demonstrated along with the display of slides for guiding the students regarding the SOPs. Coordinators and members from each faculty were present at the help desk for leading the students towards their desired classes and assisting them in observing the requisite shielding regulations i.e. wearing a mask, maintaining reasonable distance, avoiding crowding up, etc. in all three blocks i.e. the Fatima block, Maryam block, FMS and Urdu department.
Inter-Hostel Volleyball Tournament
Inter-hostel cricket tournament organized at International Islamic University female campus spanned over two days 24-25 February 2021. The event was organized under the vision of a healthy and quality education environment initiative by president IIUI. The ceremony was opened by organizers of the event, Student’s Advisor Female Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Provost Female Dr. Humaira Ishfaq, and AD sports Ms. Nadia Mukhtar by playing volleyball. This event was arranged for hostel students only to engage them in healthy activities to eradicate the trauma of pandemics being experienced universally.
The ceremony witnessed very exciting games among female students. A mixed team of EFG blocks won the volleyball match whether 1st position in the tug of war was clinched by G block. Vice president FC Dr. Farkhanda Zia joined the closing ceremony. She distributed the prizes among the winner and runner-up teams and appreciated the efforts of the Advisor office and Provost Office for arranging this kind of refreshing event after the hue of COVID-19.
International Women’s Day
March 8 is internationally celebrated as “International Women’s Day”. It is an important occasion for all of us to take a moment to reflect on ourselves, to appreciate how much work have been done and what more needs to be done in the field of gender equality. Moreover, this day is celebrated globally, highlighting and acknowledging the struggles and achievements of women from all walks of life.
On this day 8th March 2021, the Students Advisor office, Female Campus organized a seminar on “Socio-Economic Development of Pakistani Women National & International Perspective” in the auditorium of Female Campus. Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Vice president, Female Campus welcomed Chief Dr. Ikramul Haq, Chairman of Islamic Ideology. Dr. Noureen Sehar, Chairperson of, Anthropology Department, Dr. Irum Jamil from the Electronic and Engineering department, Dr. Bushra Hassan from the Psychology department, and Ms. Shagufta Omer from Dawah center, shared her achievements and inspired students to achieve her goals. Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students’ Advisor, Female Campus gave the vote of thanks to guests and Presented souvenirs to them.
Friendly Volleyball Competition between International Islamic University, Islamabad and Misbah Volleyball Academy to observe International Women’s Day
A volleyball competition between International Islamic University, Islamabad, and Misbah Volleyball Academy to observe and celebrate International Women’s Day which was chaired by Dr. Sumayya Chughtai (Students’ advisor F.C) and Dr. Humaira Ishfaq (Provost F.H). This match was a great success; every girl participated with great enthusiasm and showed great courage and after a very tough competition IIUI team won the match.
These kinds of events are important not only to celebrate Women’s Day but also to create and promote awareness regarding the importance of women’s participation in sports and how much these events can create a difference in society.
Webinar on “Stress Management”
Students Advisor office Female campus, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a webinar on “Stress Management”. Dr. Nazia Iqbal from the Faculty of Social Sciences, FSS, IIUI was the keynote speaker. Dr. Nazia Iqbal is an Assistant Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, FSS, IIUI. Her academic interests include Health Psychology, Gender-related issues, Attachment, Dyadic coping, Educational Psychology, Marital satisfaction, adolescents’ issues, and Mental health. She had published many research articles and book chapters in national and international journals.
Addressing during the webinar, Dr. Nazia Iqbal highlighted that stress is an everyday issue while stress management is a technique to be learned. She talked about general causes, signs, and strategies for dealing with stressful situations. She also discussed the interventions that target interpersonal mechanisms of depression to decrease depressive symptoms and enhance close relationships. She also discussed the counterproductive strategies of stress for daily life.
Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students’ Advisor, Female Campus, IIUI also expressed her views with the audiences of the webinar. A large number of participants including senior faculty members, officials from the Students’ Advisor Office, and students from various departments of the university attended the webinar and participated during interactive sessions.
Webinar on Golden Chance of Purification-Ramazan Activity
A webinar on the golden chance of purification has been arranged by the Students’ Adviser Office, female campus on April 22, 2021, for female students. Different students from all departments attended the webinar.
It was addressed by renewed scholar Dr. Faryal Ambreen highlighted that is a religious obligation to observe fasting which is very important for the promotion of our spiritual welfare. It helps in the purification and energizing of our souls and empowers us inwardly. One feels close to Allah while abstaining from food, water, and evil acts, among other things, solely for the pleasure of the Almighty. Self-control is strengthened and willpower increases for obvious reasons. Hunger and thirst stimulate us to put ourselves in the shoes of those who are deprived of the luxury of three square meals. Thus, we are inspired to be considerate, tolerant, and sympathetic to others.
Webinar on “CV Writing and Presentation Skill
A webinar on “Curriculum Vitae & Presentation Skill” organized by the Students’ Advisor Office, Female Campus, and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was held at the Female Campus of the New Campus.
Ms. Arshyia Mukhtar was the keynote speaker of the webinar who addressed what makes a good CV and how to market oneself professionally. She shared important component curriculum Vitae by sharing the CV of the pseudonym. She developed the CV of the Volunteers in the session. She discussed essential tips and tricks, which students have to keep in mind when they are attempting to write their first CV. She also told that one’s weaknesses must be included in the CV which later can be converted into your strengths.
Ms. Arshyia Mukhtar a Commonwealth Australia Research Program Fellow from Faculty of Management Sciences, FMS, IIUI delivered a comprehensive lecture on this occasion. Ms. Arshyia is a Cross-Cultural trainer regarding presentation skills, CV making, negotiation & self-grooming, and a diversity advisor in Australia. Presently she is serving in FMS, IIUI.
Earlier, Ms. Sumayya Chughtai, Students’ Advisor Female Campus, IIUI also expressed experiences and guided students on what measures to be adopted while presenting and resume writing. During the webinar speakers also discussed presentation skills and important steps to be inculcated for effective presentation. Important aspects about the appearance, style of the presenter, and the structure of the presentation were also shared by the speakers on this occasion.
A large number of participants including senior faculty members, officials from the Students’ Advisor Office, and students from various departments of the university attended the webinar and participated during interactive sessions in the webinar.
Ashra-DulHajj and its importance
A webinar on DhulHajjah and its importance was conducted by the Office of Students’ Advisor, Female Campus IIUI. The participants manifested the fazeelah and importance of fasting and prayers during the first ten days of this holy month.
Dr. Faryal Umbreen, Assistant Professor at Dawah Centre, illuminated the value of this month and motivated the participants to gain ultimate blessings in forthcoming days.
The webinar was hosted by Ms. Naila Rafique, Deputy Students Advisor, and a vote of thanks was also presented by Dr. Yasmeen Akhtar Deputy Students Advisor on behalf of Dr. Sumayya Chughtai. Technical and other coordination was provided by Ms. Irum Shaheen, the Coordinator of the Students Advisor Office. Participants appreciated this effort of the Advisor office and encouraged the team to conduct such events in the future.
Independence Day celebration at Female Campus, IIUI
In connection with Independence Day Celebrations of Pakistan, Students’ Advisor Office Female Campus organized a program at the auditorium in which Vice President (Academics), IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ayaz Afasr, Dr. Ayesha Ikram, Director General Human Resource Development (HRD), Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad, Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG), ICT, Ms. Asma Sanaullah, Chairpersons of departments, senior faculty members and a large number of students participated.
In his message regarding Independence Day celebrations, Dr. Ayaz, V.P. Academics urged students to take part in extracurricular activities in addition to their academic assignments. He added that youth can play a dynamic role in a nation’s progress. He said the day of independence is an opportunity to show love for the homeland and vow to make it prosperous and stable.
Dr. Ayesha Ikram, D.G. (HRD), HEC, briefed students about the perspective of Higher Education Commission for young students and advised to remain in touch with HEC to avail scholarships for Higher Education. She also felicitated the participants saying that Pakistan must be our top priority.
Ms. Asma Sanaullah, A.D.C.G., Islamabad, motivated students in her address to take part actively in academic and allied competitive activities. She said that the role of women in nation building is pivotal. She lauded IIUI leadership for providing best facilities to female students at campus.
Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students Advisor Female thanked honorable guests on this occasion and appreciated the organizing team of the program. In the end V.P. Academics presented IIUI souvenirs to the honorable guests on this occasion.
Volleyball Match to Commemorate Independence Day
Office of the Sports, Female Campus organized a volleyball competition under the supervision of Students’ Advisor Office between Day Scholars and Hostilities to observe and celebrate Independence Day. Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students’ Advisor and Dr. Humaira Ashfaq, Provost Female Campus, were the chief guests on the occasion.
The hostel team was consisted of students from different countries including Thailand, Afghanistan and Indonesia.
Assistant Director Sports, Nadia Mukhtar told that match was a great success; each and every girl participated with great enthusiasm and showed great courage and after a very tough and thrilling competition Day Scholar team won the match.
The Chief Guests said that sports play a vital role in the enhancement of one’s personality. It also helps in developing psychological and physical stamina as well as leadership qualities.
SEMINAR ON SEERAH OF (PBUH) HELD AT FEMALE CAMPUS
Dawah Centre for Women (DCW) and Students Advisor Office Female Campus of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar on Seerah of (PBUH) in connection with the Holy month of Rabi-ul-Awal at Auditorium Fatima Tuz-Zahra, Female Campus.
Ms. Nighat Hashmi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Al-Noor International was the guest speaker of the program. The program was also joined by Vice President Female Campus Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Zia. Incharge (DCW), Ms. Shagufta Omer, Ms. Sumaya Chughtai, Students Advisor, Female, staff members and a large number of students.
According to theme of program “Role of Educated Women in Nabvi (PBUH) Society” guest speaker highlighted the role of women in Muslim societies and urged women to pay their due role in the light of Seeratun Nabi (PBUH).
Ms. Nighat Hashmi said that educated women can play a pivotal role for nation building as they possess a huge responsibility in shaping mindset of youth. She called upon the educational institutions to provide best opportunities to women for imparting their significant role after completing their education.
Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Vice President (Female Campus), IIUI appreciated Dawah Center for Women (DCW) and Students Advisor Office (Female) for conducting this important seminar and said that the International Islamic University is addressing the same spirit for empowering women according to vision of the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) in Muslim societies, so that women after completing education can contribute their due role pivotally in societies and their families.

IIUI FEMALE CAMPUS MARKS TEACHERS’ DAY
Directorate of Students’ Affair in Collaboration with Department of Education, Female Campus, and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) celebrated “International Teachers` Day”.
In this regard a cake cutting ceremony was held here in female campus to pay tribute to the teachers.
Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Vice President, Female Campus, IIUI graced the occasion as chief guest, while Dr. Sumayya Chughtai Students’ Advisor inaugurated stalls which were decorated by students. The stalls contained teachers’ day cards, flowers, batches, and posters to acknowledge teachers on this occasion.
On this occasion, chairpersons of departments, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the celebrations to mark the day at the female campus of the university.
Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Zia, in her address, congratulated the students and faculty members for holding the successful event to celebrate the day. Vice President urged that teachers’ services should be highly acknowledged by the society and students must cooperate with teachers to build a strong and prosperous nation.
Dr. Najeeba Arif, Dean, Faculty of Languages & Literature (FLL), IIUI in her address said that teachers are spiritual parents of students who upraise their pupils from ground to sky and inculcate the traditions, customs, values, arts and moralities. She added that the day must highlight the fact that teachers must be empowered as a critical step towards quality education and sustainable societies.
Faculty members also paid rich tributes to the teachers’ contribution and services. They also expressed that teachers have a huge responsibility for building a nation and no nation can achieve its goals without the role of teachers. The Chairpersons, faculty members, and students attended the event carrying placards in recognition of the services of teachers.
Dr. Shazia, chairperson Education Department, Faculty of Social Sciences, IIUI said the teachers play a pivotal role in imparting quality education and they are the main source of inspiration for their students.
Dr. Sumayya, Students Advisor Female Campus also highlighted the important role of teachers in the life of students. She appreciated efforts done by the students to celebrate International Teacher’s Day and making the teachers feels special by showing their respect and love towards their teachers
DIRECTORATE OF STUDENTS AFFAIRS HOLDS ORIENTATION SESSIONS FOR NEW STUDENTS AT FEMALE CAMPUS
Directorate of Students’ Affairs Office, Female Campus, and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized orientation sessions for the newly enrolled students of Ph.D., MS. MA, and BS programs for the semester Fall-2021 in the auditorium, Fatima Block, Female Campus.
Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students’ Advisor, Female Campus welcomed the new students and presented a comprehensive overview of the female campus, and briefed the students about the norms, values, and prospects of study in IIUI. She also briefed students about university services policies, procedures and students’ responsibilities.
Dr. Sidra ul Hassan, focal person Students’ Advisor Office gave a comprehensive presentation regarding the fee section, admission process, medical center, library, and sports office for the guidance of new students. On this occasion all departments strictly followed SOPs as a preventive measure from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students Advisor thanked all the team for provision of technical and allied coordination to conduct the programs successfully.
She said that purpose of this activity was to welcome newly enrolled students in different faculties and provide them comprehensive information regarding students’ code of conduct, rules, and regulations of IIUI.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS SEMINAR HELD AT FEMALE CAMPUS IIUI
The Directorate of Student Affairs, Female Campus organized a National Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar in collaboration with the Department of Biological Sciences at Female Campus of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).
The objective of the seminar was to create awareness and address the stigma linked to the symptoms and treatment of breast cancer. The month of October has been marked as “Pinktober” across the world. To mark the day to raise awareness at the university, participants wore pink ribbons, while pamphlets containing information about symptoms and methods of self-examination were distributed among all students, teachers, and other academic and non-academic female participants. Posters and banners were displayed on prominent places of the female campus and an awareness desk was also established at the main entrance of Fatima Block to disseminate awareness material.
Dr. Samina Naeem Khalid, Director of Reproductive Health Research Center, Islamabad and consultant World Health Organization (WHO), who has an extensive experience of intensive work with Government & Development Agencies on various health projects was the keynote speaker of seminar. On this occasion being skilled in teaching, training, and research, she sensitized the audience about the disease. Dr. Samina urged all women that routine checkups, diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment of the disease along with modern technology were necessary.
In the end, Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students Advisor, Female campus thanked the guest speaker for her valuable contribution, and the organizing team including Dr. Shaheen, Dr. Nyla Rafique, Deputy Students’ Advisor and department of Biological Sciences for jointly organizing such a useful activity. Senior faculty members and a large number of female students attended the seminar.
DIRECTORATE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS COMMEMORATES YOUM E IQBAL AT FEMALE CAMPUS
To commemorate Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s legacy on 9th of November every year, Iqbal Day is celebrated, Allama Iqbal, philosopher and the “Poet of the East” is deeply concerned with youth. To remind his message, Directorate of Students’ Affairs, Female Campus, International Islamic University (IIU) organized a competition of Iqbals’ poetry in connection with You- e-Iqbal.
The activity, in supervision of Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students’ Advisor, Female campus, was in the Auditorium Fatima-tuz- Zahra Block of Female Campus. The event was moderated by Ms. Naila Rafique Deputy Student’s Advisor.
Speaking on the occasion as a Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Najeba Arif, Dean Faculty of Languages and Literature, FLL, IIUI discussed Iqbal’s message of Khudi (The Self). She said that post-modern era is based on individualism that discourages collectivism which consequently destroys the notion of nation and Ummah. She emphasized on the need of true understanding of ‘Khudi’ to build a true nation.
The competitions were categorized as ‘Kalam-e-Iqbal Maa Trannum’, ‘Kalam-e-Iqbal Tehtul Lafz’ and Bait Bazi. The responsibility of judgment was performed by Dr. Taimia Sabiha, Dr. BiBi Ameena and Dr. Sheeraz Fazal Dad.
The Competition of Taranum was won by RafiaAbid of Psychology Department, Samra Rehman of Shariah & Law stood 2nd and Syeda Maryum Naqvi Faculty of Shariah& Law got 3rd position. In the competition of Tehtullafz, Sundus Moin of Psychology Department got first position, Ramsha Ali Faculty of Shariah & law got 2nd and Umaima Zainb, Faculty of Usluddin got 3rd position. Bait Bazi competition was won by Team B comprising Iffat Sardar (BS Psychology) Rafia Abid (BS psychology) and Zarwasha ( Faculty of Shariah & Law).
Dr. Sumayya Chughtai while addressing to the audience said that Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a great poet, philosopher, scholar, and politician. She said that Dr. Iqbal gave message of Muslim unity, self-confidence, knowledge and continuous progress. The students’ advisor opined that Allama Iqbal used poetry as a medium to convey the message of Quran. She said we praise Allama Iqbal for his acknowledge and services as he also gave the concept of separate homeland for the Muslim of subcontinents. The Covid-19 SOPs were followed in the true letter and spirit by the students and faculty members during this activity.

74th Pakistan Independence Day
Sports play a vital role in the enhancement of one’s personality by being a source of exercise and entertainment developing psychological and physical stamina as well as leadership qualities.
On 12th August 2021, Asst. Director (Sports) Ms. Nadia Mukhtar organized a volleyball competition under the supervision of Students’ Advisor Office between Day Scholar and Hostellites to observe and celebrate “74th Independence Day “of our beloved homeland Pakistan in gymnasium Female Campus, which was chaired by Dr. Sumayya Chughtai (Students’ advisor F.C) and Dr. Humaira Ishfaq (Provost F.H).

All Pakistan Intervarsity Badminton Competition
The Government College University, Faisalabad hosted “All Pakistan Intervarsity Women Badminton Competition 2021 “organized by Higher Education Commission (HEC).The event dates were 21-24 November, 2021. A team of 5 players was organized to participate in this event. Our university competed with Islamia University, Bahawalpur and won the first set with lead points.
Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive 2021, Islamabad
“When you learn to compete in ground, you also learn to win and also learn to face defeat. When there comes a difficult time in the life of a person, he or she faces that challenge with courage,” Imran Khan told a huge gathering of youth at the Jinnah Stadium on the occasion of launching of country’s historic Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive 2021.
Sports Drive was part of the new four projects worth Rs4 billion initiated by the present government in coordination with the Kamyab Jawan Programme and the Higher Education Commission to keep the country’s youth engaged in sports and extracurricular activities. Different universities from all over Pakistan participated in this mega event.
PM said that the government was striving to take Pakistan forward in international sports through various measures including talent-hunt, development of grounds, reforms in sports bodies and elimination of mafias.
Around 46 students participated from Female campus in Volleyball, tennis, squash, handball and athletics but also performed tremendously well. IIUI team players coached by Asst. Dir Sports Ms. Nadia Mukhtar assisted by Miss Ayesha Rashid and Miss Sana Gul participated with great zeal; zest and enthusiasm in Kamyab Jawan sports drive 2021.
Our female tennis team consisted of 5 players gave a pretty tough competition and defeated the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences – UVAS Lahore team in the first qualifying round.
Whereas our handball team consisted of 12 players competed marvelous well and won the match from Iqra University, Karachi.
Our female volleyball team consisted of 12 players gave an incredible performance and won the match from Sukkar IBA university.
This all was not possible without the effort and support of our Students’ Advisor female campus, Ms. Sumayya Chughtai. She said Sports are one of the wonderful ways to instill the qualities of determination, discipline and sincerity among the young minds.
Report of the seminar on Breast Cancer awareness campaign
The month of October is marked as “Pinktober”, Breast Cancer awareness month worldwide. In this regard Directorate of Student Affairs, Female Campus in collaboration with the department of Biological sciences organized the national Breast Cancer awareness seminar on 3rd November 2021 at Fatima tuz Zahra Block, Female Campus. The objective of the seminar was to increase awareness and reduce the stigma linked to the symptoms and treatment of breast cancer. To mark the day participants wore pink ribbons. Pamphlets containing information about symptoms and methods of self-examination were distributed among all students, teachers, and other academic and non-academic female participants. Posters and banners were displayed on prominent places of female campus and an awareness desk was established at the main entrance of Fatima Block to disseminate awareness material.
Dr. Nyla Rafique, Deputy Students Advisor welcomed the speakers, faculty members, and students.
Dr. Samina Naeem Khalid, Director of Reproductive Health Research Center, Islamabad and consultant WHO was the key-note. She has an extensive experience of intensive work with Government & Development Agencies on various health projects. Being skilled in teaching, training, and research she sensitized the audience about the disease very appropriately. The speaker urged that routine checkups, diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment of the disease along with modern technology were necessary.
In the end, Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students Advisor, Female campus thanked the guest speaker for her valuable contribution, Dr. Shaheen and her organizing team for jointly organizing such a useful activity, and others for their for attending the seminar.
Cabinet of Green Youth Movement Club Takes Oath at IIUI, 23rd December, 2022
The cabinet of Green Youth Movement Club of International Islamic University (IIU) took oath in the inauguration ceremony of the movement held at the Faisal Masjid Campus of the university.
The cabinet consists of the thematic leaders for water conservation, plantation, energy conservation, cleanliness and waste management and ecotourism, while office bearers of the cabinet shall hold positions of President, Vice President, Joint Secretary, Finance Secretary and Media Secretary.
The inauguration ceremony of the movement was addressed by Deputy Chairman Senate, Mizra Muhammad Afridi who called for maximum and active participation of youth for the protection of environment. He said volunteer work for the betterment of planet will be fruitful for the present and coming generations. He stressed upon the students to be part of the government’s initiative of the environment and climate protection and play active role in the cause.
Speaking as the guest of Honour, Senator Fawzia Arshad said that presence of hundreds of female students in the ceremony is omen of success of this drive as women’s role is vital in protection of environment. She said our nation like many others is facing the challenge of pollution and it is the youth of this country that can help us out to handle this challenge. She said HEC’s special assistance of around 140 universities for this initiative is an appreciable step. She also assured that houses of the parliament will be available to support the ideas and initiatives of youth for protection of environment.
Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice President Academics of the university said that it is encouraging to witness government’s initiative for the protection of planet and environment through youth. He stressed for collective actions for renewable energy and its sustainable consumption. He said that humans must take care of their living style to save the nature. “We need to build a cleaner and greener future together” he said.
In his welcome speech, Dr. Muhammad Irfan, Den Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences said that we will have to learn the art of living with nature that is all about preserving the environment and being responsible for the environment protection in the light f teachings of Islam. He said Islam is a staunch supporter of environment protection and it is out religious and social obligation o take care of our natural resources and climate. He also shed light in detail on the sustainable development in the perspective of environment. He also discussed journey of Faculty and its initiatives for the green and clean Pakistan.
Dr. Summiya Chughtai, Students Advisor female, in her address shared the objectives of the launch of the initiative at the university and appreciated the team work especially by Sarah Amir, lecturer at the department of environmental science and the focal person for this initiative.
The event was organized by Department of Environmental Science, female campus of IIU, Students Advisor office of the female campus as part of initiative of Higher Education Commission in collaboration with Kamyab Jawan Program.
