DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY ORGANIZES SEMINAR ON GIRL CHILD DAY

Department of Sociology International Islamic University Islamabad organized one day seminar on “International Girl Child Day: Girl The Future of Pakistan ” at Lincoln Corner, Central Library IIU in collaboration with Child Rights Movements Islamabad.

Female students of the Department of Sociology, faculty members, guests from the CRM and United Global Organization of Development-(UGOOD) participated in the seminar.

On the occasion, Sidra Umar (MS student Department of Sociology) delivered a lecture on ‘Empower Girl:  Before, during and After Conflict.

Dr. Hazir Ullah (Deputy Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Chairman Department of Sociology) talked in length about the representation of girls in everyday discourses. He referred to the institutional mechanisms that are used to discriminate girls in society. External representatives (Syed Ishtiaq Ul Hassan Gilani and Safdar Raza) also highlighted the importance of girls rights in society. They highlighted the issues and their efforts for the protection of children rights in general and girl child’s rights in particular.   In addition to the lectures, female students of the Department of sociology, through skit, highlighted the issues and difficulties faced by girls from birth to death.
