Department of Psychology International Islamic University Islamabad hosted a Webinar on “Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy: An Introduction” that was addressed by Dr Andrea Wittenborn as a guest speaker.
Dr. Andrea Wittenborn is an Associate professor of Human Development and Family Studies and also a director of the Couple and Family Therapy Doctoral program at Michigan State University. She is also a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
The participants of the webinar concluded that emotionally focused Couple Therapy is highly beneficial for couples who are struggling with conflict, distress and poor communication.
Dr. Wittenborn gave an introduction of Emotionally Focused couple therapy. She highlighted the significance of therapy. She also discussed the interventions that target interpersonal mechanisms of depression with the goal of decreasing depressive symptoms and enhancing close relationships.
After the presentation, question and answer session was proceeded. Audience showed keen interest in presented topic and asked a number of questions. During the webinar, expressing his views, Prof. Dr. Tahir Khalily suggested for arranging such more webinars pointing out great interest for audience.
At the end, Dr. Nazia Iqbal, Chairperson Dept. of Psychology and other senior faculty members thanked Dr. Andrea Wittenborn for sparing precious time for the activity. She thanked Dean Social Sciences Professor Dr. Amna Mehmood for her support and encouragement for the activity.
