DCS & SE: RESEARCH SCHOLAR MUHAMMAD SHOAIB DEFENDS HIS PHD DISSERTATION

M ShoaibMr Muhammad Shoaib, PhD scholar at Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, International Islamic University, Islamabad has successfully defended his PhD dissertation titled “Disambiguating Authors in Bibliographic Databases”. His research interests include Information Retrieval, Semantic Search, Data/Text Mining and Document Clustering.

He has completed his research work under the supervision of Dr. Ali Daud, Assistant Professor (Head, Data Mining and Information Retrieval Research Group) at International Islamic University, Islamabad, and co-supervision of Dr. M. Sikandar Hayat Khiyal, Professor at Preston University, Islamabad. His thesis was internationally evaluated by Dr. Hassan Ahmed, Director of Partnership Development, School of Computing and Communication, Lancaster University, UK, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khurram Khan, Editor-in-Chief, Telecommunication Systems (Springer), Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA), College of Computer & Information Sciences, King Saud University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; whereas locally by Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar, Chief Technologist, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, and Dr. Hassan Mujtaba Kiyani, Associate Professor at Department of Computer Science, FAST National University, Islamabad.

His thesis has been ranked as a good effort with 3.78/4.00 CGPA. During his PhD he has published 3 research articles in internationally recognized, well cited, ISI impact factor/indexed journals. Dean FBAS and HOD DCS&SE has congratulated the scholar and appreciated the team work of DM and IR Research Group, IIUI under the supervision of Dr Ali.
