Closing Ceremony Marks Successful Conclusion of IIUI Sports Gala Spring 2025

The closing ceremony of the Sports Gala Spring 2025 at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem, during which all participants stood in respect.

In his remarks, the Chief Guest, Prof Dr Ahmed Shuja Syed, President IIUI, commended the Directorate of Students Affairs (Male) and IIUI sports officials for organizing what he described as a successful and memorable event.

President of IIUI, lauded the Sports Gala 2025 as a testament to the university’s rich multicultural environment, noting the active participation of students from various nationalities. He emphasized that such inclusive events foster unity and provide a platform for cultural exchange through sportsmanship. Highlighting the educational value of sports, he stated that athletics play a vital role in shaping character, discipline, and teamwork. Dr Shuja further underscored the importance of integrating physical activities within academic settings for the holistic development of students.

Earlier, Dr Hafiz Ghufran, Director of Students’ Affairs (Male), opened the ceremony by delivering a welcome address and presenting a brief report of the gala to the Chief Guest. He also welcomed the Guest of Honour, Dr Inamul Haq, Director of Administration and Works, along with esteemed directors, faculty members, sports focal persons, students, and participating athletes.

In his remarks, Dr Ghufran praised the vibrant energy of IIUI’s youth. He expressed gratitude to all faculty sports focal persons and directors for their dedication throughout the event.

He extended special thanks to the administration of the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) for providing access to their sports gymnasium for the badminton tournament. Dr Ghufran reported that a total of 12 teams took part in this year’s gala — 11 from various IIUI faculties and one from the Iqra Technical Centre. In a remarkable outcome, three faculties — the Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Computing — shared the top position, each securing 13 points.

Trophies were awarded by the Chief Guest, Prof Dr Ahmad Shuja Syed, who congratulated the winners and lauded all participants for their spirited involvement. He encouraged students to engage in sports as a means to promote both physical health and mental well-being.
