Capacity-Building Workshop Launched to Promote Holistic Employee Development

A week-long training workshop focused on strengthening the technical skills and soft competencies of administrative staff commenced at the Seminar Room of the Central Library, of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The initiative is organized by the Office of Professional Trainings under the supervision of the Directorate of Human Resource Management and Development (HRM&D), IIUI.

The workshop aims to equip participants with essential capabilities required for effective office functioning. It was formally inaugurated by Mr. Ateeq Ur Rehman Chughtai, Director HRM&D, who emphasized the university’s strategic focus on continuous professional development. He highlighted the evolving role of Human Resource Management—from traditional administrative oversight to a holistic approach centered on employee well-being, growth, and institutional advancement. Mr. Chughtai also mentioned recent HRM&D initiatives, particularly in employee medical support and welfare.

The opening session featured a module on “Noting Techniques,” delivered by Dr. Tariq Sultan, Deputy Director, IIUI. The session focused on principles of clear, objective, and ethical note-writing in administrative decision-making.
On the second day, Dr. Inam ul Haq, Director Administration/Works, conducted a session on “Drafting Skills,” discussing official correspondence formats, precision in language, and the significance of verbal communication in documentation. He emphasized that effective drafting enhances professionalism, reduces miscommunication, and strengthens accountability in administrative work.

In the coming days, the workshop will include a session on “Ethics and Stress Management in Official Communication” by Dr. Inam ul Haq, focusing on professional integrity and managing stress in high-pressure environments. Dr. Tariq Sultan will return with a session on “Record Keeping,” covering document retention, confidentiality, and ethical practices in managing official records. The final two sessions will include “Communication Skills in the Office Environment” by Ms. Sidra Huma on July 28, and “Basic Computing Skills for Office Procedures” by Dr. Zara Tahir on July 29.

The workshop will continue throughout the week with targeted modules aimed at enhancing workplace competencies. The initiative reflects IIUI’s enduring commitment to staff development, operational excellence, and fostering a value-driven professional culture.
