A Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) funded workshop, entitled “Integrated Energy Systems: Battery & Beyond” was organized by the Centre for Advanced Electronics & Photovoltaic Engineering (CAEPE) at International Islamic University, Islamabad.
The workshop was organized in the backdrop of PSF-Funded project in the broader area of Energy Storage and Supercapacitors. This was the third in the series of national workshops held in this research grant. This year’s specific theme was focused on the novel solutions towards Energy Storage Systems, particularly the current and next-generation batteries.
The participants noted that the energy storage sector has seen an unprecedented interest due to the focus on renewable, innovative and cost-effective energy solutions especially in Electric Vehicle industry, Smart Cities as well as Energy Efficient ICT devices and systems. In this vein, this event was organized to introduce this exciting area from the science and engineering manufacturability perspective to cater for a larger audience.
Guest speakers/Experts of the workshop include Prof. Dr. Hong Meng from Peking University, China, Dr. Ghulam Ali from NUST, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Executive Director, CAEPE, IIUI, Dr. Imran Murtaza, Department of Physics, IIUI, Dr. Saba Ashraf, Assistant Professor, CIRBS, IIUI, Dr. Gul Hassan, CAEPE, IIUI and Dr. Carlos Garcia Nunez from University of the West of Scotland, UK.
A large number of participants inclusive of industry representatives, researchers and faculty members, students all across Pakistan attended the workshop and panel discussion online. Interactive session and the expert talks were highly appreciated and applauded.
