Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition & Closing Ceremony of Calligraphy Course

The Faculty of Arabic (Female Campus) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized an Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition and the closing ceremony of the Arabic Calligraphy Course. The Vice President of the Female Campus, Prof. Dr. Amna Mehmood, graced the event as the chief guest. The ceremony was attended by the Students’ Adviser, Dr. Rukhsana Tariq, along with a large number of faculty members and students from various faculties of IIUI.

The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by the Dean of the Arabic Faculty, Dr. Fazlullah. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of the course and provided insights into the historical significance of Arabic calligraphy.
Professor Amna Mehmood appreciated the efforts behind organizing such a significant event and expressed her hope that similar beneficial programs would continue in the future. Students’ Adviser Dr. Rukhsana Tariq also lauded the faculty’s efforts, stating, “Calligraphy is the most highly regarded and fundamental element of Islamic art.” Dr. Abdul Mujeeb, Head of the Literature Department, Faculty of Arabic, highlighted the art of beautiful handwriting and commended the initiative.

The course, which included “Kufi Calligraphy” and “Ruqaa Calligraphy,” was taught by Dr. Moaid Fadhil, an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Arabic and one of the senior-most foreign faculty members at IIUI, hailing from Iraq. Addressing the participants, Dr. Moaid Fadhil provided an overview of Arabic calligraphy and its various styles. He also praised the participants and winners for their dedication and hard work throughout the course.

In her speech, Dr. Samia Nazish, In-Charge of the Faculty of Arabic, thanked the participants for attending the event and expressed gratitude to Dr. Moaid Fadhil and Dr. Robina Naz for organizing such a valuable course. She congratulated the winners and all course participants on their successful completion of the program.
During the ceremony, shields were awarded to Dr. Moaid Fadhil and Dr. Robina Naz in recognition of their contributions. Shields and course completion certificates were also presented to the winners and participants of the course.
The event concluded with students sharing their positive feedback on the course. The distinguished guests visited the calligraphy exhibition, which showcased over 120 pieces of artwork created by IIUI students. The exhibits received widespread admiration for their excellence and creativity.
